❤️ Preserving Our Past, Building Our Future!

This week, Lucas County Economic Development is proud to spotlight the Lucas County Preservation Alliance (LCPA), an organization dedicated to preserving the history, character, and charm of our community!

Established in 2011, the Lucas County Preservation Alliance has made a tremendous impact on Chariton and Lucas County through its mission to REHABILITATE • RESTORE • PRESERVE historic and unique buildings.

🏛️ Making a Difference in Our Community!

Some of their incredible projects include:

✨ Hotel Charitone – Bringing new life to a historic downtown landmark by transforming it into beautiful apartments, restaurant space, and gathering areas.

✨ CB&Q Freight House – Preserving a piece of our railroad history while providing a wonderful venue for community events and celebrations.

✨ Palmer Building – Saving one of Chariton's oldest downtown buildings and working toward giving this historic property a new purpose for future generations.

🌟 Why Does Historic Preservation Matter?

Historic preservation is about so much more than saving old buildings. It's about economic development, community pride, attracting investment, creating opportunities, and keeping our downtown vibrant!

Every restored building tells a story. Every investment strengthens our community. And every preservation project helps ensure future generations can experience the history that makes Lucas County special.

This week, Lucas County Economic Development is shining the spotlight on the hardworking farmers who help keep Lucas County growing! ❤️

🌽 From sunrise to sunset, and well into the night from planting to harvest, our farmers are the backbone of our rural communities.
Farming isn't just a job — it's a way of life. It's long hours, unpredictable weather, equipment breakdowns, late nights, early mornings, and a whole lot of determination!

🚜 As harvest season continues, we want to recognize the farmers and farm families who dedicate their lives to feeding our communities, supporting our local economy, and carrying on generations of agricultural traditions.

🌾 Agriculture is economic development! Our farmers support local businesses, create jobs, invest in equipment and services, and help keep our small towns thriving.
