Call or message us to get on the schedule for pasture spraying soon. From now through November is prime time for spraying for thistles.

One of the best times to spray thistle is in the fall—particularly musk, bull, and tall thistle.
Why fall is a good time?
Thistles are generally biennial. They germinate in late summer, then spend the fall and winter as a low-growing rosette. The following spring they bolt, flower, produce seed, and die.
The key is to kill them while they're still in that rosette stage.
• September–October: excellent window in Missouri.
• Late October into November: can still work if they're actively growing and conditions remain suitable.
• Early spring: another good opportunity, generally March–April.
The reason fall works so well is that you're killing the plant before it develops the flowering stalk and seed head. You're also catching it when the young plant has a relatively small root system and is preparing for winter.
What you're looking for
Don't wait until you see the big, obvious thistle plants next spring.
In the fall, look for flat rosettes of leaves close to the ground:
Fall:
🌱 ← rosette
Spring:
🌱 → 🌿 → 🌸 ← bolting/flowering
MU Extension specifically identifies the rosette stage as the optimum stage for herbicide treatment.
Once they're bolting and flowering, broadcast herbicide effectiveness starts declining.

With this drought in the 4 state area there's starting to be potential crop loss. If you need your fields mapped/photographed for assessing your loss please reach out to us. We can map your fields with a drone and you can see your fields much better than from on the ground.
