Full of people who learn your name. Friends you run into while grabbing groceries. Neighbors who show up when you need a hand.

The redwoods might be what makes you want to move here. But finding your people is what makes it feel like home.

That’s my favorite part of living here and raising my girls here. The scenery is beautiful. The community is what I’m grateful for. 🧡🌲

I’m Sarah, a local mom and Realtor sharing everyday life in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Follow along if you’re hoping to find your place here, too.

Sometimes the Sunday reset you need is laughing with your best friends over Mario Kart. I see you and .

We live in the Santa Cruz Mountains. They live three hours away. We all have jobs, families, and regular life happening, so getting together takes some planning but this internet thing is wild and I am so grateful for it 🧡

And this mom thing can feel like an island sometimes. You can spend the entire day with people needing you and still miss having time with your friends. Today we got to fill our cup a little bit though.

As we work to raise the next generation of good humans, I am realizing that it is important and vital to be intentional about making room for me, Sarah, too.

Because it is easy to put friendship at the bottom of the list when there’s always something else to get done.

And this week, even the normal stuff has felt like a lot.

I’m usually pretty good at keeping a routine. Going to the gym, following my schedule, getting things done. This week though, everything has felt like it takes more effort than usual and when you’re used to being consistent, it’s frustrating to feel off. You keep thinking you should be able to get it together because you normally can.

The kids still need you. Work still needs you. Dinner still needs to happen. So you do the things, but there’s less energy left over.

That’s been my week here in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

If you’re usually the one getting things done and you’ve felt a little unlike yourself lately, hi. You’re in good company. 🤍

We got my sellers’ land into contract this week, and it made me stop and think.

It’s a smaller transaction than the homes I usually sell. But that doesn’t make it a small decision for the people involved.

It’s still their property. Their money. Something they’ve spent time thinking about and deciding what to do with.

A price tag doesn’t tell you what someone is letting go of, or what selling will allow them to do next.

Whether I’m helping someone sell a piece of land, buy their first home, or make a bigger move, I want them to feel comfortable asking questions. I want them to understand their options and feel like they have someone in their corner.

The size of the transaction doesn’t change that.

You asked for more neighborhoods, so here’s PART TWO! 🎃👻

If Santa Cruz County neighborhoods were Halloween movies…

After the Santa Cruz Mountains edition, you guys started requesting more neighborhoods, and honestly, I had way too much fun with this one. 🤣

I don’t just sell homes in Santa Cruz County. I live here, I’m raising my girls here, and I love getting to know all the little communities that make this place so special.

From the foggy roads of Bonny Doon to the surf vans and Scooby Snacks of Pleasure Point, every neighborhood has its own personality. 🌲🌊

And yes, we’re still keeping the movies mostly family-friendly because actual scary movies are NOT my thing. 😂

Now tell me… did I get your neighborhood right? Or did I completely miss the mark?

And more importantly, which neighborhood needs to be in Part 3?! 👀

I picked my daughter up from school at the beach today.

Her new school has an ocean view from the playground. And we’re still able to keep one day a week at nature school, which, this month, means learning outside at the beach.

If only we could all have childhoods like that.

To her, growing up in these mountains and seeing the ocean all the time is just normal. It’s what she knows.

But today I caught myself thinking: I hope she grows up understanding what a gift this is.

Not everyone gets this kind of childhood. And even with all the ordinary, busy, sometimes hard parts of our life, I don’t want to stop noticing how special this part is.

I hope she remembers how it felt to grow up here. And I hope I remember to appreciate it right alongside her.

Tonight I watched our girls play with the chickens, yelling for them to come sit in their laps like was a reasonable request.

I watched Juniper do a very questionable handstand for the hundredth time. And watched again when she said, “Mom, look!”

Tickling Willow’s feet… and doing it again when she says “mo”.

It was a regular evening at home in the Santa Cruz Mountains and somewhere in between working, making dinner, and thinking about everything that still needs to get done, I’m trying to just notice it.

We’re working to build a life for our family and give our girls a beautiful childhood.

Our goal is pretty simple: give them a little better than we had. Nothing extravagant. Just a little more time together, a little more room to explore, and parents who are trying to be present for it.

I’m grateful for this boring little life where we get to raise good humans and watch bad handstands.

I want to keep building it, and I also want to enjoy what’s already here. 🤍

If Santa Cruz Mountain neighborhoods were Halloween movies… Disney edition. 🎃🌲👻

Because actual scary movies are WAY too scary for me. 🤣 So we’re sticking with Disney.

I don’t just sell homes in the Santa Cruz Mountains. I live here, I’m raising my girls here, and these are the communities we call home.

From the quirky little downtowns to the winding roads, towering redwoods, and neighborhoods that all have their own personalities, I’ve gotten to know what makes each one special.

And honestly, some of them are giving major Disney Halloween movie vibes. 😂

This is all in good fun, but when you live here, you KNOW every neighborhood has its own personality.

So tell me… did I nail yours, or would you pick a different movie? 🎬🍿

Most sellers I talk to assume the listing is what sells the house. The listing matters. But by the time someone is clicking through photos, they’ve usually already been imagining a life up here for a while.

They’ve watched the fog come in. They’ve seen the downtown stretches, the swimming holes, the Saturday markets. They’ve also seen the honest parts, like the drive, the septic, and the fire insurance, and they’re still here. Those are the buyers I want in front of your home.

If you’re thinking about selling in the Santa Cruz Mountains, send me a message that says “selling.” No pressure, just a conversation about who your house is really for.

When I’m showing a house or holding it open, I want it to smell like absolutely nothing.

Clean. Fresh air. That’s it.

I want buyers thinking about where their couch would go, not wondering what the candle is covering up.

But once you move in? I fully support making it smell like someone has been baking cookies all afternoon.

Candles from . My diffuser. Something cozy while I’m picking up toys for the fourth time that day.

I live in a cabin in the woods, but I don’t want it to smell musty. I want it to feel cozy and inviting the second you walk through the door.

Redwoods outside the windows. Something that smells delicious inside. That’s my ideal evening at home in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
