Mortgage Rates Aren’t Backing Down Yet
Mortgage rates are still holding firm near 7%, and as a Florida real estate broker with 15 years of experience, I’m watching how this impacts affordability for buyers and sellers alike. Unless inflation cools off enough to shift the Fed’s outlook, we may see these higher rates persist through the end of the year. Factors like sticky inflation, the possibility of another Fed rate hike, and wider mortgage-backed securities spreads are all adding extra pressure on borrowing costs. For anyone considering buying, investing, or refinancing, I recommend using today’s rates as your reference point—any drop in rates down the road will be a welcome bonus, but for now, it’s wise to plan with the current numbers. As always, staying informed and adaptable is key in this market.
