Two inspectors on one house? Hive now handles the case where you both edit the same comment.

Tandem inspections already worked well when each inspector took different sections or comments. Now, if two or more inspectors edit the same comment on their own phones and each add photos, Hive merges the changes and keeps everyone's photos on that comment.

Guess the Defect #1

Inspectors: what would you call this, and how would you write it up? Homebuyers: would it worry you?

Tell us in the comments. The answer, and how it reads in a Hive report with Context Layer, is on the last slide.

New one every Wednesday. Got a good photo for the series? Send it to us and we'll credit you.

A home inspector's #1 pet peeve, and the world's easiest repair.

Kyle Dowdeswell (CMI, Canmore, Alberta): bifold closet doors with the pulls on the wrong side of the hinge. They open easily but take two hands to close, because the door binds on itself. Most DIYers or a handyperson can move the pulls.

Inspectors: what's yours? Tell us in the comments.

Three inspections today? Download all three reports with one tap before you leave.

New in the Hive mobile app: a download button at the top right of the inspection list. One tap downloads the reports for every inspection scheduled today, so you're ready for offline mode when the crawlspace has no signal.

No more opening each inspection and each report one by one.

Buying a home and the inspection report lists 50 findings? That's not a reason to panic.

Yari Rincon, a licensed Florida home inspector and founder of Home InCheck in Winter Haven, explains how to read a long report: findings grouped into major or safety concerns, moderate items and maintenance notes, and context on how common each issue is and how easy it is to fix.

Yari is a Hive Inspect customer.

Plenty of inspection software charges more the busier you get.

Hive Inspect is $99 a month whether you do 20 inspections or 60. That covers every feature: scheduling, agreements, payments, automations, team analytics and all of Hive's AI report tools, with no usage cap on the AI.

A few things that surprise people:
- Office and support staff logins cost nothing. Only people who inspect need a paid seat.
- There are no ads in your reports or your client portal.
- Hive does not sell client data.

"Stop word-smithing reports like an English major."

John Del Valle, licensed Florida home inspector and owner of DV Inspection Services in Navarre, shows Hive's Comment Assist: he types a few words (garage walls burned in a previous fire), taps generate, and gets a full narrative to review. Everyone on his team writes in the same style and voice.

Inspectors report AI Comment Assist saves about 20 minutes per inspection.

Got your inspection report and it's longer than you expected? Before you panic, ask three questions about each finding:

1. Is it a safety issue? Those come first.
2. How hard is the repair, and who fixes it? Some items are a quick job for a handyman; others need a licensed specialist.
3. Is it common for a home this age? A lot of findings are normal wear.

Your inspector is the best person to ask. Some reports now answer part of it for you: inspectors who use Hive can add a short note under each defect on how common it is and how easy it usually is to repair.

Save this for your next inspection.

3 small updates that save clicks, shipped in Hive on 27 Sep:

- Pick a rating, like "D" for Defect, to be selected automatically whenever you add a defect.
- Radon, WDO and mold events can now show on the mobile home screen next to your inspections.
- Add your logo as a light watermark across your PDF reports.

All optional, all in your settings. Full notes: https://docs.hiveinspect.com/whats-new/sep-27-2026
