Here's a little love for our Property Management team.

Their days are spent solving problems nobody saw coming, helping people through challenges, and making sure things don't fall through the cracks.

Most of the work happens behind the scenes. Few people see all the calls, texts, emails, site visits, and last-minute pivots that happen in a week.

But the people they serve feel it.

They feel it when someone follows up, listens, or cares enough to help, even when it's not convenient.

That's who this team is.

No shortcuts. No "that's not my job." Just a group of people who genuinely want to care well for others and leave things a little better than they found them.

We're thankful for every one of them.

Congratulations to the team at Frieden on last night’s ribbon-cutting celebration!

We are honored to have served as the construction manager for a project that was so thoughtfully envisioned and beautifully executed.

From the beginning, the dream was to create something more than a destination. It was about shaping an environment where people can slow down, reconnect, and find space for rest, recreation, and renewal. Seeing every detail come together into such a welcoming and inspiring setting has been incredibly rewarding.

We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to help create a place that will enrich the lives of so many guests, families, and visitors for years to come. The finished space is truly remarkable, and we’re proud to celebrate this milestone alongside everyone who made it possible.

Congratulations to the entire Frieden team on opening your doors and sharing this special place with the community.

Food is how we enter their story.

During today’s quarterly Hand2Hand food packing, our CEO, Matt Sink, challenged us to approach it differently, not as "just another packing event," but by being fully present in the reality of what we're doing and what it represents.

Every bag we packed represents something bigger than food.

It represents a child who may not know if they’ll have food to eat over the weekend. A family carrying challenges we may never fully understand. A reminder that even a simple act of kindness can make someone feel seen, valued, and loved.

That's the heart behind Hand2Hand's mission: to ensure every child is seen, loved, and fed.

It’s an honor to play a small part in that mission because, at the end of the day, people are our passion.

Today, we're joining our friends at Children's Healing Center to recognize World Mental Health Day and raise awareness of caregiver mental health. Their work creates a safe, supportive community where children with weakened immune systems and their families can find connection, encouragement, and hope through life's most challenging seasons.

Wearing green is a visible reminder that caregivers are seen, valued, supported, and cared for, too. 6 in 10 caregivers experience elevated levels of stress while caring for a child with a chronic health condition, which is why Children's Healing Center invests in programs that provide meaningful support, resources, and community for those carrying so much for others.

Congratulations to the team at Independent Bank!

We couldn't be more excited for you all as you start this new chapter in this incredible new space downtown Grand Rapids. You never know what you'll run into when renovating a 100-year-old building. But seeing how this project turned out makes all that complexity worth it.

“Start with the vision. Be open to possibilities. Surround yourself with people willing to ask difficult questions and help you explore what's possible.”

At some point, every growing business faces the same question: Is our building helping us grow, or holding us back? In a recent Crain's article, First Companies CEO Matt Sink shares why the best facility decisions start with a vision for the future, not just a need for more square footage.

Matt shares the example of Mangrove 3D and the unique needs of the company in creating a space that could handle the innovation and production happening under their roof. As the vision evolved, so did the facility. Workflow, material storage, and equipment placement were revisited multiple times to ensure every decision supported Mangrove's long-term goals. This project reinforced the idea of building for where you’re going, not just for where you are today. Story in the comments below.

Last night, First Companies was honored with Associated Builders and Contractors, Western Michigan Chapter Excellence in Construction Awards for Saint Robert Catholic School and Ada Family Dentistry, and we were proud to receive our 7th consecutive STEP Diamond Award.

St. Robert received the award for Renovation / Addition / Tenant Build-out: $10 - 20 Million, while Ada Family Dentistry received the award for New Construction: $1 - 5 Million.

These honors are really about our people. A massive THANK YOU to our team for the care, expertise, and intentionality you bring to your work every day. We're grateful to have such a talented group representing First Companies.

Competition was friendly. The weather cooperated. All around, our annual First Companies Golf Outing was a success!

Bringing our team together outside the office and job site is one of many ways we strengthen the relationships that define our company. We're thankful to our owners for their ongoing commitment to cultivating a strong sense of community within First Companies and for creating opportunities like this for our team to connect, recharge, and enjoy each other's company.

And congrats to yesterday’s winners: Jen Hallock, Craig Baker, Kevin Rich, and Nate Miedema! Your year of bragging rights begins now!
