Ready for one of the area's biggest fall traditions?

The Calabasas Pumpkin Festival is happening October 18th at San Juan Bautista de Anza Park off Agoura Parkway in Lost Hills.

It's a full day of fall fun with craft booths, a kids' play area, live music on the bandstand, a b**r garden, and tons of food trucks and vendors, so it's a great one to bring the whole family to.

Fun fact: I actually performed at this festival with my elementary school chorus. Shout out to my friends from Meadow Oaks!

Does a Vietnamese coffee from a trendy new cafe actually taste like one?

I tried HiBye Coffee's version, and honestly it tasted more like a vanilla latte. A traditional Vietnamese coffee gets its signature richness from sweetened condensed milk, and that's the part I was missing.

It's definitely sweet, though not as intensely sweet as a classic Vietnamese coffee, so if you love sugary coffee drinks, you'll probably enjoy it.

It's not the Vietnamese coffee I'm used to, but it's still worth checking out.

One of LA's most hyped restaurants is right here in Calabasas, and there's a secret most people don't know about.

Jon & Vinny's is now open on Calabasas Road in Old Town, right next to Yume. It comes from Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo, the award-winning chefs behind Animal and Son of a Gun, and it's known for handmade pastas, wood-fired pizzas, and produce-driven food in a laid-back setting.

Even I didn't know this one: they serve breakfast from 8 to 11:30 AM. So while everyone lines up for dinner, you can slip in for a quiet morning meal.

Go check out that breakfast before the word gets out.

Looking for a new way to do date night or guys' night out?

Hapa House has filed plans for a golf simulator restaurant and bar at the Sherman Oaks Galleria, and owner Alex Miyawaki is aiming for a November opening.

The space will have about 70 seats inside plus patio seating, a Hawaiian-style menu, and five golf simulators, so you can eat, drink, and play all in one spot right on Ventura Boulevard.

I'll keep you posted as opening day gets closer.

What if apartments ended up right at The Oaks mall?

The nearly 50-year-old mall was sold by longtime owner Macerich to Los Angeles firm Stockdale Capital Partners for $157 million, and the city has said the new owner is interested in building housing on the property, possibly apartments up to seven stories tall.

The Oaks opened back in 1978 and is showing its age, so this could mean a major refresh with new stores, upgrades, and homes all in one spot.

It's a real sign of where things are heading when even the local mall is getting a little Botox. I'll keep you posted as the plans take shape.

Looking for a solid grab-and-go breakfast burrito?

El Tapatio is a true staple in the area, so I tried their bacon breakfast burrito, or burrito de tocino.

There's a lot of tortilla going on, but it's really good quality with great flavor, and the inside is packed with an abundance of eggs, bacon, and potato. It's a basic breakfast burrito done well, and the salsa gives it a nice kick.
