If you’re shopping for a mountain house in Highlands or Blowing Rock, take a look at Burnsville first.

You get the same Blue Ridge Mountains and the same long-range views. You’re still within reach of Charlotte and Knoxville. Your money usually goes further here, and you get a lot more quiet.

A second home in the mountains comes with questions people don’t always think to ask, like winter access, private roads, and who takes care of the place while you’re gone. I grew up here, so those are things I’ve dealt with my whole life.
