Here’s some fantastic Friday news for the city of burleson!
Apparently, wider hips are in this season. Wilshire is going with the Paris runway look.
Yes, we need more lanes.
Yes, getting those lanes is going to test our patience.
Yes, Dez caught it.
Let’s get all that settled before construction starts.
Beginning Monday, Oct. 12, TxDOT will widen SH 174 from Wicker Hill Road to north of Elk Drive. The project adds a third lane in each direction, a curbed center median, dedicated turn lanes, sidewalks and drainage and traffic signal improvements.
But first, Wilshire has to squeeze into something smaller:
SH 174 at Hulen Street will be down to ONE LANE in each direction, around the clock, until mid-November, weather permitting. Crews will be installing drainage culverts during this first phase.
Crews will work at night when possible to reduce traffic impacts. Substantial completion of the overall project is estimated for 2028.
Everybody wants the extra lanes. Nobody wants to sit through the construction. We understand.
So consider this your official pre-construction complaint department. Drop your best complaint in the comments. Let it all out. Bonus points for creativity.
This is a TxDOT project. We’re sharing the update, but we know some of you will blame us anyway. Might as well make it entertaining.
Share this with your favorite Wilshire commuter, allow extra travel time and give the crews room to work safely. Save the roasting for us.
