Attendees included representatives from Wallenius Wilhelmsen, Kerfkore Company, Scojet, Wings of Grace, and other local businesses.

Beyond networking, these conversations create opportunities for businesses to support each other and work together to strengthen our local economy. This was the first of many roundtables we look forward to hosting as we continue building connections across our industry community.

The Golden Isles Development Authority attended yesterday’s Savannah State of the Port, joining business and community leaders to hear updates on Georgia Ports’ investments and plans for future growth.

Highlights included:

🚢 Federal approval of the new Savannah Container Terminal—a $2.3 billion project that will add 3.5 million TEUs of annual container capacity, with construction expected to begin in 2028.

🏗️ Nearly $5 billion in planned port infrastructure investment over the next decade, supporting the long-term needs of businesses that depend on Georgia’s global connections.

📍 Continued investment in the Port of Brunswick, including plans for a fourth roll-on/roll-off berth to accommodate future growth.

For GIDA, these investments reinforce the importance of preparing industrial sites, supporting existing employers and positioning the Golden Isles for new business opportunities. Strong ports and connected infrastructure help our community compete—and help local businesses reach customers around the world.

Yesterday, our community celebrated the dedication of the M.H. “Woody” Woodside Terminal at Brunswick Golden Isles Airport —a fitting tribute to a leader whose work helped shape the Golden Isles.

During his 34 years leading theBrunswick-Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce, Woody championed economic development, helped advance commercial air service, and supported the growth of our local aviation industry.

Naming the terminal in his honor creates a lasting reminder of his service, vision, and commitment to this community. We join the Golden Isles in celebrating Woody’s legacy and the opportunities his work continues to create.
