My daily morning walks usually set the tone for the entire day. ☀️

Before the showings, client meetings, emails, and everything else the day may bring, I like to take a little time for myself—to reflect, feel the morning breeze, soak up some sunshine, and listen to whatever audiobook I happen to be devouring at the moment. 📕 Right now, it’s My Own Magic by the fabulous Anna Kloots.

This morning was no different, except I found myself paying a little more attention to some of “My Favorite Things”—those small details and quirky touches that give a neighborhood its personality and make it feel like home.

I’m a huge fan of Ridgewood and have been a happy local resident for nearly a quarter of a century, yet somehow I’m still discovering little things that make me smile. ♥️

Today’s discovery? This “World’s Best Pet Shop” sign at Grover Cleveland Park & Playground, offering free bags for cleaning up after our four-legged friends. 🐶🐾

Such a simple, clever, and thoughtful idea—and exactly the kind of little neighborhood detail I love stumbling upon during my morning walks.

Whether it’s a small new discovery, a familiar stroll down storybook-like streets such as Stockholm with its charming brick roadway, Hart and Willoughby lined with beautiful single-family homes, or spotting someone’s “mobile home” creatively converted from an old yellow school bus—it’s often the smallest, quirkiest details that weave the fabric of a community and remind us why we love where we live 🏡✨

I don’t usually promote businesses unless I’ve personally used their services or genuinely believe they bring something positive to my clients and our community.

For years, I walked past this empty parking lot and run-down building on 60th Place between Grove & Menahan Streets in Ridgewood, watching it slowly deteriorate. Then, about two years ago, Perfect Moving took over the property and began cleaning it up, improving it, and bringing new life to the space.

Now, every time I walk by, it puts a smile on my face. I love seeing neglected corners of our neighborhood come back to life and local businesses thrive ❤️

This morning’s walk brought an even bigger smile—the crisp fall air has finally arrived, and Perfect Moving is clearly ready for spooky season! 👻🎃💀

So, in the spirit of supporting our local businesses, I wanted to give a big shoutout to the team at Perfect Moving here in Ridgewood. Thank you for being part of our neighborhood, for taking pride in your space, and for the great service you’ve provided to our community—and to my clients! 🙌

The number 13 has been on my mind since yesterday. Thirteen years since you left us, on September 13, 2013. Thirteen years of learning to live with your absence, while somehow still carrying your presence with me every day.

My daughter is 13 this year, and the connection we have formed feels like something that will live beyond us—a bond woven into the fabric of our lives, carried from one generation to the next.

People often tell me I look like you, and there is no greater honor than carrying you within me for the rest of my life.

Although you and I had very different personalities, and different lives, you were always my safe harbor. The place I called home. The place my heart knew it could always return to, no matter how far life carried me.

I don’t believe there are coincidences in life. I believe we choose certain souls to walk beside us, and I chose you. You became the greatest influence on the person I am today, shaping me in ways I continue to discover.

Two very different lives, intertwined forever.

And perhaps that is the most beautiful part—that even though you are no longer here, you remain deeply connected to me.

Thirteen years may have passed, but some connections exist beyond time.

I cherish that you are a part of me.

And you always will be. ❤️

Today marks the 25th anniversary of that fateful day, September 11, 2001. It is a day that carries a deeply personal meaning for me, as it is forever connected to my arrival in this country.

I arrived in New York City on August 13, 2001. Just one month later, an unspeakable tragedy unfolded and changed all of our lives forever.

I still remember that morning beginning as one of those warm, beautiful, perfectly clear September days. And then, within just a few hours, everything changed. There are certain moments in history that become permanently etched into our hearts, and September 11 is one of them. We all remember where we were when we first heard the news, and no amount of time can erase the memories of those who lost their lives, or of the countless brave first responders who ran toward danger to help others.

Today, my heart goes out to all the families, friends, and loved ones who continue to carry that unimaginable loss. Twenty-five years may have passed, but grief has no timeline, and those we lost will never be forgotten.

May we always remember the lives that were taken, honor the courage and compassion shown that day, and hold close the hope for a more peaceful and kinder world.

Sending love and peace to all those who continue to remember.
