A little project from the archives + still one of our favorite game rooms. ⛷️

Near Sunday River in Bethel, Maine, we wanted the design to feel connected to the destination, but also reflect how guests would actually spend their time once they got there.

Deep greens, warm woods, plaid + playful nods to ski culture carry throughout the home, while the game room gives families + groups a place to come back together after a day on the slopes.

Short I’m-term rental design is just as much about the experience guests came for as it is the way the space looks.

When your Airbnb guests arrive, we want them to feel where they are, not just see a beautiful space. The local surroundings, natural features + reason for gathering all help shape the design direction.

Thoughtfully layered, rooted in a sense of place + uniquely curated for the guest experience.

If there’s one space that earns its square footage in a short-term rental, it’s this one.

From morning coffee to family dinners, game nights + catching up on a few emails, the dining table tends to work overtime during most stays.

At this Boston property, we designed the space to give everyone a place to gather, whatever the day brings. ☕️

You don’t always need to gut a kitchen to completely transform it.

If the layout works and the cabinets are in good shape, sometimes paint is all it takes. A high-impact change that leaves more of your renovation budget for somewhere it can work harder.

And for an Airbnb? We say have a little fun with the color.

We’ll always recommend keeping what works, and help you invest where it will make the biggest difference.

Save these colors for your next design project.

Designing for occupancy isn’t about finding space for more beds.

It’s thinking about what happens when everyone wakes up, gathers for dinner, heads to the pool, wants to hang out, or needs a little space of their own.

Getting 20+ people into a house is one thing, but creating a place where 20+ people can genuinely enjoy being together is something entirely different. 🤍

What happens when the weather ruins your guests’ plans?

If your guest experience depends on perfect weather, there’s a gap in your short term rental’s design.

Indoor amenities like pool tables and games room give guests another reason to enjoy the property, rain or shine. 🎱

There’s a reason our Airbnb design process doesn’t start with a mood board. It starts with understanding why your guests are coming in the first place. 🍂

At Rivah, a tiny cabin in Maine, that meant thinking about why couples come here in the fall, to slow down, explore, get outside, hit the trails, and have somewhere cozy to come back to and unwind together.

The deck and hot tub weren’t added just to “check” an amenity box. They were chosen around the experience guests came for.

Know your guest, know your destination and design for both.
