In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I’d like to share a little piece of my story. 💜
When I started my real estate brokerage, I knew I needed a powerful symbol that represented not only me, but everything I had overcome and everything I wanted my company to stand for.
I’ve always been drawn to the fern, but the symbolism behind this beautiful plant goes far beyond what meets the eye.
🌿 Rebirth and Renewal: The ability to begin again.
🌿 Resilience: Finding strength and thriving even in the most difficult environments.
🌿 Growth and Transformation: The beauty of personal evolution and healing.
🌿 Hope: The possibility of finding new life after difficult experiences.
🌿 Endurance: The strength to survive, persevere, and keep growing.
For nearly two decades of my life, I experienced different forms of domestic abuse, from physical violence to psychological and narcissistic abuse. And while I eventually found the courage and support to leave, I learned that escaping an abusive relationship doesn’t always mean escaping the effects of it.
There were years of rebuilding, setbacks, and moments when I barely recognized the person looking back at me. But somewhere along the way, I found myself again.
I reclaimed my confidence, rediscovered my self-worth, and built a life I once couldn’t imagine for myself.
And eventually, I built a company of my own.
That’s why the fern means so much to me. It’s more than a logo. It’s a reminder of where I’ve been, what I’ve overcome, and the woman I’ve become.
Today, I’m incredibly proud that this symbol represents something I built with my own two hands.
Domestic violence doesn’t always leave visible scars. Psychological abuse can leave wounds that follow survivors long after the relationship ends. And sometimes, the people who appear the strongest are carrying battles you know nothing about.
This October, I encourage you to learn the red flags, believe survivors, and never underestimate the difference your support can make in someone’s life.
Be the light someone desperately needs when they can’t find their own.
Because everyone deserves a life beyond survival. 💜
If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, help is available 24/7.
