🧑‍🩰Outside In: Compound Open House🧑‍🩰
Sunday, October 11
3–9PM

Larger than the sum of its parts, The Compound is a complex of spaces and a collective of artists, institutionally intersecting creativity, sociology, and the adaptive use of space.

Outside In showcases the current state of production held behind our doors, where we are defined by our flexibility to adapt, mutate, and evolve. The best way to understand our vision, in its most current state, is to experience it.

On October 11th, join us as we shift our focus to the thoughts and concepts that frame our collective creative practice. Navigate open studios, view the gallery, participate in workshops, and join panel discussions guided by our artist community. Our courtyard will offer a central place to gather, listen to music, share a meal, and enjoy the evening between activities.

We invite you to join the nurturing of an organic creative movement and spend the day with us: outside, inside, and in between.

Used in military operations to mark and target enemies of the state, lasers can cause permanent damage to one‘s sight and can function as both tool and weapon in police operations. This work orients the laser as a method of protest of such practices, aiming to usher in more ecologically resilient & compassionate realities.

What does it mean to be safe? From the perspective of a surveillance state, achieving the goal of perfect safety entails a totalitarian capture of all possible information.
Innovation Summit repurposes footage taken from a Customs and Border Protection (CPB) webinar, offering a corrected audio dialogue in which panelists discuss innovative technical proposals to capture the past, iresent, and future.

Since January 2024, citing record complaint volume and budget cuts, the Civilian Complaint Review Board of New York has suspended investigation of several categories of allegation against police misconducts. Cases closed this way are marked Strategic Resource Allocation Determination (SRAD). No investigation was conducted, and police officers likely have never been notified.

Thousands of such complaints identify an officer. Taking cues from policing tools such as notices of summons, 50 of these notices are printed here, addressed, and ready to mail.
