Some of the most meaningful places in Baltimore are the ones people walk right past.

At the foot of Baltimore's World Trade Center stands a piece of steel from the World Trade Center in New York.

A reminder of September 11 and the Marylanders whose lives were lost that day.

I've seen people walk past memorials like this without stopping.

But sometimes it's worth taking a minute.

Read the names.

Remember the people.

Think about the families and communities whose lives changed forever.

Some places deserve more than a passing glance.

People hear Baltimore, and a lot of them immediately think about The Wire.

I get it.

But that's not the whole story.

I'm standing right by the National Aquarium, looking out at the Inner Harbor.

You've got the skyline, boats out on the water, families spending time together, and people simply enjoying the waterfront.

This is Baltimore, too.

And it's something I want people to see for themselves.

When you're thinking about moving somewhere, don't make your decision based only on what you've heard or watched on television.

Go experience the neighborhood.

See what everyday life actually looks like.

People ask me what it's actually like to live near Baltimore's harbor.

Here's something you won't always see in a real estate listing.

You can walk down to the waterfront.

Stroll over to Cross Street Market and grab lunch.

Enjoy the harbor views without having to plan an entire day around it.

And depending on the property you choose, you might not even have grass to cut. 😂

That's something I think buyers sometimes overlook.

A home isn't just about what you get inside.

It's also about what your everyday life looks like outside.

Before buying, spend some time exploring the neighborhood. See if it actually fits the way you want to live.

This is what a regular weeknight dinner can look like when you live near Baltimore's harbor.

I stopped by Cross Street Market to grab something to eat at Watershed.

No big plans. No long drive.

Just good food, a little pint, and people enjoying themselves.

And it got me thinking about something I always tell buyers.

You're not just buying a house or a condo.

You're buying into everything around it.

The restaurants. The neighborhood. The convenience of having places like this nearby.

Those are the things that can make a difference in your everyday life.

So before you buy, take some time to experience the neighborhood.

What does $166 million actually buy a community?

I stopped by the new Lansdowne High School in Baltimore County to take a closer look at where our tax dollars are going.

And this building is massive.

Over 318,000 square feet. Room for nearly 1,800 students. Replacing a school building that dates back to 1963.

It took about 10 years to make this happen.

Here's why I think that matters.

When you buy a home, you're not just buying the house.

You're buying into what's being built around it. The roads. The schools. The infrastructure. The investments the county is making.

That doesn't mean every neighborhood or property is the right fit.

You still have to do your homework.

Check the school locator. Look at what's available nearby. And most importantly, understand what your real monthly payment would be.

If you're considering buying in the area, DM PAVEMENT.

I'll help you look at the numbers and understand your options.

I can't tell you how many times I've driven past the Guinness Brewery in Halethorpe and thought, "I'll stop by there soon."

Well, we're running out of soon.

With the brewery preparing to close, I finally decided to stop in and check it out.

Opened in 2018. Around 2 million visitors have walked through these doors.

And here I was, driving past it all those times without stopping.

It's funny how we do that.

We live near these places, pass them all the time, and assume they'll always be there.

Sometimes you just have to make the time.

What's one place around Maryland you've been meaning to visit but keep putting off?

Did you know Guinness has such a strong connection to Nigeria? 🇳🇬

I was at the Guinness Brewery and learned something pretty interesting.

Nigeria is one of Guinness's biggest markets.

And they're bringing that connection right here to Maryland.

The Nigerian American Festival is happening October 16–18 at the brewery.

Food. Music. Culture. Community.

Whether you're Nigerian or not, it's an opportunity to experience something different.
Plus the attendance is Free!

Anybody planning to go?

Gave the IPA a try at the Guinness Brewery.

Nothing wrong with it, and I understand why people enjoy it.

But I'm still a stout fan.

Which one are you choosing? IPA or stout?

Rainy day in Fells Point and it still hits. Cobblestones, Broadway Market, murals on the buildings, and small local businesses holding their spot right next to brand new construction. That mix of old and new is exactly why this neighborhood keeps its identity.

Thinking about buying somewhere walkable in Baltimore? Send me a DM and let's talk it through. Got a favorite spot in Fells Point? Drop it in the comments.

Six months of house hunting.

We finally found the right one.

Then the lender pulled credit.

Brand new Mercedes.

That’s the kind of decision that can completely change your options when you’re trying to buy a home.

The lesson isn’t that you can’t buy the car.

It’s timing.

Buy the house. Then buy the car.

Not the car. Then the house.

Before you take on new debt or make a major purchase during the homebuying process, talk to your lender first.

A five-minute conversation could save you from losing the house you spent months looking for.
