❤️ Our Residents Are the HEART of Overture Arboretum! ❤️
We are so touched by these beautiful words from our wonderful resident, Olga, who has called Overture Arboretum home with her husband, Juan, since 2020!
From finding her “extended family” to sharing her incredible passion for art with fellow residents, Olga reminds us what makes our community so special. 🎨💕
Thank you, Olga, for sharing your beautiful story, your talents, and your heart with our community! We are so lucky to have you! ❤️
"My husband, Juan, and I have lived in this community since 2020. Juan still enjoys his job and isn’t planning to retire anytime soon, so I’m the one who has benefited most from living here—in a community I truly call home. I’ve made new friends and learned so much from people who have helped me see this country differently and understand it better. As a result, I feel closer to American life in a new and more meaningful way. I feel the sense of community, the warmth of the people, and the joy of living here. I feel at peace and protected, and, as I like to say, I’ve found my “extended family.” We don’t have children; it’s just the two of us, and our families live all over the world. We don’t have family here in Texas, so these friendships have made our lives more enjoyable. We don’t feel alone, and we know there’s always someone to talk to and share things with.
If anything has transformed me, it’s the Overture Arboretum community. Here, I fulfilled a dream I’d had for many years: at 42, I decided to become an artist and leave my engineering career behind. Although I spent nearly five years immersed in the art world at The Art Students League of New York, I consider myself largely self-taught in my artistic practice, and I wanted to share that experience with others. Here, I found the perfect place. What could be better than doing that with people who want to keep growing and learning? The space we’ve created here—where we learn, paint, discuss ideas, listen to classical music, and have fun—is the most wonderful thing I’ve experienced since joining this community. It nourishes my soul, and I want to keep sharing what I know with the residents who have joined me on this adventure over the past five years.
Thank you, Overture Arboretum, for all the wonderful things you provide and for helping us resolve issues with the building and our apartment. You make our lives easier. Thank you for helping me feel happier and enjoy life with my beloved husband and friends in this magnificent place I call home.
With love,
Olga Lora"
