I fell in LOVE with Austin when i was 12 and my aunt took me out to see a bunch of bands one night. I’ve lived in austin for 20 years and I moved here for the music. I love all the creativity in this city, it’s a wonderful place to live and a great place to raise my two kids. One of my fave things to do is go see live music, I love discovering new bands and songwriters. The music community here is my realm, both as a fan and as a friend. I also love all the art that’s being made here, crafty stuff, fine art, film, hair stylists…anything creative and inspiring and beautiful! There are so many awesome events around town, and even better are FREE ones, and ones to take kids to, be it music, or art or a 5K/kids K, anything. I love how austinites partake of our beautiful city. I love being a Realtor here because I love the city so much and the people here. It’s so fun discovering new neighborhoods I didn’t know before, or introducing a favorite area to someone, or showing someone that there is the right house for them. It’s a thrill finding that perfect match. I know this town, nightlife, food, shopping, schools, kid things, resources, neighborhoods…and if I don’t it’s my pleasure to learn something new

The Perch - Garage Apartment

Location: Judge’s Hill, Austin TX

Style: International

The Perch is a garage apartment built by renowned Architect Charles Granger of Fehr & Granger in 1938, and was inspired by Richard Neutra who he worked under in 1936. It is one of Austin’s only pre-war international style structures.
International style emerged in the 20s & 30s and is a style of modernism known for clean lines, lots of glass and steel, open floor pans and no ornamentation, simple and dramatic.

Granger was gifted this lot in the Judge’s Hill neighborhood, near UT Austin, from his parents and built the garage apartment, known as The Perch, for his family to live in while he designed and built the famed Mid-Century Modern Granger house on the same lot. The family moved to the big house upon completion

I’ve had the privilege to represent the current owners of The Granger House and The Perch in leasing the Perch and it takes my breath away every time I get to enter it. The living space is atop a garage that is used for storage, so when you get to the top of the stairs and enter, the wrap around steel windows make it feel like a tree house

There are original built ins, hardwood floors, and fixtures that are a delight, you feel special just being there.

Here are some things to love about 4614 Jinx Avenue that you can’t just tell from the pics:

2 wildly creative artists have lived here for 26 years, you can feel the soul of that when you are there. Music, wood working, photography…did you ever see the series of drag queens grocery shopping? it was epic and one of the pieces is still there to admire.

The neighborhood is a vibe, eclectic, some original houses like this one from the 60s, and some pretty & striking new construction. South Austin epitome.

Nearby there is so much that is easily accessible - Jo’s Coffee, Garrison Park, Central Market, Westgate Cinema, Flow Yoga, El Alma, not to mention St David’s Hospital, remember how being on the hospital grid was the primo location during the Ice Storm?

It’s like the middle of a wheel hub with the ability to head in all directions depending on what you want to do.

It’s the kind of street that everyone knows - I mention Jinx Ave and people are like “I love that street!” - maybe it’s the cute name, or maybe it’s the cool vibe.

Not gonna lie, receiving accolades, especially receiving them post my stage IV cancer diagnosis, feels really really good. The momentum award from Compass recognizes year over year increased production, I got this one for Q2.
I know I say this every time, a broken record that I will never stop shouting about and being amazed by - but to be able to work and to work with results for my beloved clients, while living with this stupid, scary illness, is a blessing that fills me with a gratitude that brings me to my knees. I’ll also never stop being dramatic 😆. I’m so thankful that my clients trust me and that I have something that fills me up with joy and that sustains me. Also, thank you to all my colleagues that support me and my friends and family, it’s definitely a village that makes this all possible. Let’s all keep having fun, selling houses and living with joy 🤩✨
