A little real estate history with quite a story behind it…

Oheka Castle, the magnificent Long Island estate said to have helped inspire the world of The Great Gatsby, is headed to auction on October 27.

But one of the most fascinating parts of its history? Financier Otto Kahn built the estate after being excluded from local country clubs because he was Jewish. His response was rather spectacular: he created an extraordinary 127-room château—and his own golf course.

And if it looks familiar, there’s a reason: Oheka has appeared in Citizen Kane and Succession, and Taylor Swift filmed her “Blank Space” video there.
