You found one of the best little hikes in Redwood National & State Parks… and fall is about to make it even better. 🌲💦🍂
Welcome to Trillium Falls Trail near Orick, California.
This family-friendly hike packs a lot into a short distance:
🌲 Old-growth redwoods
🍁 Bigleaf maples
🌿 Fern-lined forest
🌸 Trillium in season
💦 A hidden waterfall
🦌 Roosevelt elk nearby
📸 Endless photo stops
The falls are just ½ mile from the trailhead, making this an easy adventure if you’re short on time — or continue on for the full 2.7-mile loop through towering redwoods, massive firs, and peaceful forest.
And with the fall rains returning, this is one of the best times of year to catch the waterfall flowing and the forest looking extra lush. 🌧️🌿
Bonus: the trail starts at Elk Meadow Day Use Area, where you may even spot Roosevelt elk before you begin your hike.
This is the kind of trail that reminds you why the Redwood Coast feels so magical.
