🤍 Hi, I’m Mia! A little about me…

If we’re just meeting, here’s a little peek at the person behind the real estate business!

I’m Mia Barnes, a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Advantage, serving the Triangle area of North Carolina and helping people navigate their next chapter, wherever life takes them.

A little about me outside of real estate… I’m originally from Copenhagen, Denmark, a wife, a mom, and a military spouse who has experienced firsthand just how much moving can change your life. After years of new places and new beginnings, I know that finding a house is one thing — finding a place that truly feels like home is something else entirely. 🏡

When I’m not working with clients, you’ll often find me dreaming up home projects, rearranging a room, painting something, working on a DIY project, or thinking about my next furniture or interior design idea. I love making spaces feel beautiful, comfortable, and personal. I’m also a fan of gardening, getting my hands dirty, and, of course, a good caramel latte! ☕️

I’m a creative at heart, a homebody in some ways, and someone who loves the idea of turning a house into a home with character and personality.

Real estate is more than a career to me. It’s about people, relationships, new beginnings, and helping others feel confident during some of life’s biggest transitions. Whether you’re buying your first home, selling a place filled with memories, relocating with the military, or simply figuring out what’s next, I love being someone you can turn to along the way.

Around here, you’ll find a little real estate, a little home inspiration, some DIY and design ideas, and a little bit of real life, too.

I’m so glad you’re here! 🤍

Let’s connect, share ideas, and find your next chapter.

Can we talk about how hard 2026 has been? ❤️

I don’t know if it’s just me, but it feels like 2026 has been a rough year for a lot of people, and I don’t think we talk about it enough.

Not just financially, although I know that’s a big part of it for many families. I mean personally, professionally, emotionally… in so many different ways.

I talk to people who are trying to keep their businesses going, find new opportunities, make ends meet, figure out their next steps, or simply get through the week. People who are doing their best, even when things aren’t going the way they planned.

And honestly, sometimes I look around at everything happening in the world, how quickly things are changing, the uncertainty, the pressure, and the constant feeling that we’re all supposed to keep up with it all, and I find myself wondering…

Where are we going? And does anyone else feel this way?

I think sometimes social media makes it easy to believe everyone else is doing great. We see the new jobs, the beautiful homes, the vacations, the business successes, and the happy moments. And those things are wonderful. Truly.

But we don’t always see the worry behind the scenes. The plans that didn’t work out. The financial stress. The disappointments. The exhaustion. The people quietly trying to figure out what comes next.

I’m not writing this for sympathy, and I certainly don’t have all the answers. I’m writing it because I think we need a little more honesty and a little less pressure to pretend we have everything figured out.

Maybe you’re having a great year, and if you are, I’m genuinely happy for you. But maybe you’ve also had moments this year when you’ve felt overwhelmed, discouraged, uncertain, or just plain tired.

If that’s you, I hope you know you’re not alone.

Sometimes we don’t need someone to fix everything or tell us to stay positive. Sometimes we just need a real conversation with someone who understands.

So, I’m genuinely asking… how has 2026 been for you?

Personally, professionally, financially, or just in life in general.

Are you feeling hopeful about where things are headed, or are you also trying to figure it all out one day at a time?

Let’s have an honest conversation. No judgment, no pretending, no need to have the perfect answer.

Sometimes it’s good to know we’re not the only ones. ❤️

🏡 WHAT DOES IT REALLY COST TO BUY A $430,000 HOME TODAY?

Mortgage rates are on the move again, and that can make a BIG difference in your monthly budget. 💰

According to the latest Freddie Mac figures cited by Realtor.com, the average 30-year fixed mortgage rate reached 7.40% for the week ending October 8, 2026.

Let’s break down what that could mean for your wallet. 👇

🏠 Example: $430,000 Home

🔹 Home price: $430,000
🔹 Down payment (20%): $86,000
🔹 Mortgage amount: $344,000
🔹 Interest rate: 7.40%
🔹 Loan term: 30 years

💵 Estimated monthly principal & interest: $2,382

Now here’s the part that really puts things into perspective…

At an average rate of 6.30% last October, the same loan amount would have cost approximately $2,129 per month in principal and interest.

📈 That’s about $253 more per month — or $3,036 more per year!

And remember, this estimate does NOT include property taxes, homeowners insurance, HOA fees, or mortgage insurance, if applicable.

🏡 So, does this mean you should put your home search on hold? Not necessarily!

It means understanding your numbers matters more than ever. The right home price, loan program, down payment, and monthly budget can make a real difference.

If you’re thinking about buying a home in Apex, Cary, Holly Springs, Raleigh, or anywhere in the Triangle, let’s talk about what makes sense for YOUR situation.

No pressure. Just honest conversations, practical information, and helping you make an informed decision. ❤️

I’ve been thinking about something lately…

Nobody really talks about the things they’re not good at.

We talk about our accomplishments.
Our promotions.
Our successes.
The new house. The new job. The big project. The exciting news.

But what about the other stuff?

The things we struggle with.
The things that don’t come naturally to us.
The areas where we’re still learning.
The things we’re just… not very good at.

Why does admitting that sometimes feel like we’re admitting we’re not capable?

I actually think there’s a lot of strength in being able to say:

“This isn’t my strength.”

Maybe you’re great at your career but terrible with finances.

Maybe you’re incredibly organized at work but your own house is a disaster half the time. 😂

Maybe you’re great at taking care of everyone else but terrible at taking care of yourself.

Maybe you’re confident in most areas of your life but completely unsure about what comes next.

Maybe you’re an amazing parent, but some days you have absolutely no idea what you’re doing.

None of those things make you a failure.

They make you human.

And honestly, I think we’ve created this weird expectation that capable people are supposed to be good at everything.

They’re not.

Sometimes being self-aware enough to say “I need help with this” is far more valuable than pretending you’ve got it all under control.

You don’t have to be great at everything.

You just have to be willing to recognize where you need to grow, ask for help when you need it, and give yourself a little grace along the way.

So here’s your reminder today:

You are allowed to have weaknesses without being a weak person.

You can be successful and still struggle.

You can be confident and still have doubts.

You can be capable and still need help.

And you can be a work in progress without being a problem that needs fixing.

Maybe we should talk about those things a little more.

Not to complain.

Not for sympathy.

Just to remind each other that none of us actually has it all figured out. ❤️
