There are actual numbers behind every cabinet decision in a new construction home, and they're not random.

The upper cabinets sit 18 inches above the counter so you can use the counter without the cabinet in your way. The refrigerator space is built to 72 inches tall so a standard fridge fits with clearance. The base of the upper cabinets lands at 6 feet off the floor.
