The house on Faninskyi Lane is part of the historic Shatylivka district, which developed on the outskirts of Kharkiv alongside the early aviation industry. Built in the 1920s as housing for Ukrpovitroshliakh employees, it is one of the few surviving examples of this typology. Over time, the building lost much of its original character due to unsystematic renovations, including the addition of an extra floor. In 2021, it was reinterpreted through a contemporary architectural approach that preserved the existing structure while redefining the façade. The project demonstrates how historical buildings can be carefully integrated into the modern urban context.

The history of this house is linked to the history of a neighbourhood that, some 150 years ago, was the outskirts of the city of Kharkiv — Shatylivka, named after a famous residence of Mrs. Shatilova.
