‎𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗨𝗦 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 | Alvaro claims Provincial Title in 30th PSQ

Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) student Julrey Alvaro topped the Leyte Provincial Elimination of the 30th Philippines Statistics Quiz (PSQ), held at the Hotel Alejandro in Tacloban City on October 9.
‎
‎Alvaro emerged as the provincial champion among thirty participants from across Leyte, marking his impressive debut in college-level mathematics competitions.
‎
‎Representing the Palompon Institute of Technology (PIT), Alvaro and fellow first-year BSMT student Kent Niel Laude participated in the Leyte Provincial Elimination, which brought together students to their statistical knowledge, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills .
‎
‎"Kuan happy ko, because I thought dili nako maka apil sa mga math competitions since college naman ko," Alvaro said, expressing his happiness at having the opportunity to compete again.
‎
‎"Pero tungod jud ni sa mga classmates nako kay gi-push ko nila," he added.
‎
‎Behind his remarkable achievement was his coach, Prof. Jose Sherwin Seville, a faculty member of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), who guided and mentored them throughout the competition.
‎
‎"When Julrey was declared the Champion among top tertiary institutions across Leyte, the feeling was a mixture of overwhelming pride, profound humility, and pure joy," Prof. Seville said.
‎
‎"To Julrey, you have brought immense pride to PIT and to my heart as your instructor. Thank you for trusting the process, staying humble, and giving your absolute best," he added.
‎
‎With this victory, Alvaro qualified for the 30th Regional Philippines Statistics Quiz, scheduled for October 14, 2026, in Palo, Leyte, where he will be competing against other qualifiers from across Region VIII.
