LRA CHIEF WARNS VS 'FLY-BY-NIGHT' AGENTS
SITREP/Land Registration: Land buyers should verify brokers with the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), Land Registration Authority (LRA) Administrator Atty. Gerardo Sirios said, warning of “fly-by-night” agents who pose as brokers.
Sirios told DZRH News program “The Situation Report” on Wednesday, October 21, that many people present themselves as brokers but are not, and the PRC can verify them.
Sirios advised buyers to ask for a broker’s ID, so that the broker’s legitimacy and license can be verified through the PRC.
Sirios said the LRA has a memorandum of agreement with the Real Estate Brokers Association of the Philippines (REBAP), led by president Carla Calleja, to recognize only legitimate licensed brokers.
Justice Senior Undersecretary Raul Vasquez said all land brokers must be licensed, and licensed brokers normally charge a share of five percent and up.
