The first penguin has no idea
if he's about to swim or die.

That's the whole point.

Most people think courage means
feeling ready.

Wrong.

Courage means moving
while your stomach is in knots.

Nobody feels ready.
The ones winning just stopped
waiting for the feeling.

Here's how I think about it.

You do the scary thing
within 5 seconds of wanting to do it.

Send the email. Make the call.
Put $50 in the index fund.

No negotiation with yourself.
Because your brain is a master
talker-you-out-of-it machine.

Wait ten seconds and suddenly
"next Monday" sounds reasonable.

Then next Monday becomes next year.

I learned this the hard way.
Sat on a business idea for two years.

Two. Years.

A guy I barely knew launched
basically the same thing in four months.

He wasn't smarter than me.
He just jumped before the water
had time to talk him out of it.

That stung.
Best lesson I never paid for.

So here's the actual mechanics.
Read it simple:

One. The risk is rarely as fatal
as your brain renders it.

Two. Someone always benefits
from you going first.
Sometimes that someone is future you.

Three. Confidence comes after action.
Never before. Stop reversing the order.

A book that cracked this open
for me was "The Obstacle Is the Way"
by Ryan Holiday.

Short read.
Every chapter feels like a slap
in the best way.

One question before you scroll.

What water are you standing
at the edge of right now?

You already know what it is.
It's been sitting on your chest
for months.

Go first.

The rest of the penguins
are watching you anyway.
