THE COASTAL HIGHWAY SAGA!
₦15 TRILLION FOR A COASTAL HIGHWAY… AND NOW WE’RE TALKING ABOUT CHANGING THE ROUTE? WHO PLANNED THIS PROJECT?
Let’s stop pretending this is a minor issue.
It’s not!
The Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway was presented as a major infrastructure project.
Now, Nigerians are being told that parts of its route will be aligned with the existing East–West Road because of difficult terrain and flooding concerns.
The government says the original 750km coastal highway remains intact, but the confusion demands answers.
My question is simple…
Were these engineering challenges not supposed to have been identified BEFORE committing trillions of naira to this project?
Like a whole TRILLIONS? LOAN?
Who approved the original design?
Who conducted the feasibility studies? Who is accountable if major planning decisions have to be revisited after the project has commenced?
And most importantly, what exactly are Nigerians paying for, and what are we getting in return?
We need to know🤦‍♀️
You cannot ask citizens to endure economic hardship while committing astronomical sums to infrastructure, then expect them not to question decisions that affect the project.
This particular project affected citizens!
Residential and commercial properties were demolished!
We were assured that we wouldn’t have any problems or regrets!
₦15 TRILLION IS NOT POCKET CHANGE. IT IS PUBLIC MONEY.
NIGERIANS DESERVE ANSWERS, NOT JUST EXPLANATIONS.
What do you think? Is this a necessary engineering adjustment, or does it raise serious questions about the planning and accountability behind the project?
At this point i don’t know what else to say!
