4 WEEKS OLD BROILERS: THE GROWTH STAGE THAT CAN DETERMINE YOUR PROFIT! 🔥💰

Farmers, our broilers are officially 4 weeks old, and we are currently recording weights of about 2.4kg! 💪🐔

At this stage, proper management is very important because the birds are entering a period of rapid growth.

1. Feed management: Provide quality feed and ensure every bird has easy access to feed. Our birds are currently on New Hope 511 pellet starter.

2. Water supply: Always provide clean, fresh drinking water. Never allow your birds to run out of water.

3. Health management: Observe your birds daily for signs of weakness, coughing, sneezing, poor appetite or abnormal droppings. Our birds are currently receiving Tylosin and vitamins as part of their management plan, following appropriate veterinary guidance.

4. Ventilation: Ensure good airflow without exposing the birds to chilling draughts. Keep the litter dry to reduce ammonia and respiratory problems.

5. Space and comfort: Provide enough space around feeders and drinkers to reduce competition and help the birds grow uniformly.

6. Monitor their weight: Weigh a sample of birds regularly to know whether their growth is meeting your target.

🎯 Our goal is simple: Healthy birds, good weight, low mortality and better profit!

Remember, farmers, good broiler production is not just about buying chicks; it is about how you manage them every single day

6 Mistakes That Make Chickens Grow Slowly and What to Do! 👇

Many farmers wonder why their chickens are growing slowly, even when they feed them every day.

👉 Some common mistakes in chicken management can slow growth, cause stress, and increase the risk of disease.

👇 Here are 6 mistakes some farmers make and what to do to avoid them!

1. Overcrowding

Too many chickens in one space cause fighting, stress and competition for feed and water.

👉 What to Do:

Provide enough space according to the age, size and type of chickens. Ensure there are enough feeders and drinkers so every bird can eat and drink properly.

2. Poor Feed

Poor-quality feed or feed that does not meet the birds' nutritional needs slows growth.

👉 What to Do:

Choose good-quality feed that matches the age of the chickens. Check the expiry date, smell and condition of the feed before giving it to the birds.

3. Dirty Water

Dirty drinking water increases the risk of disease and affects the health of chickens.

👉 What to Do:

Wash drinkers regularly and provide fresh, clean drinking water every day.

4. Wrong Temperature

Too much heat or cold causes stress, especially in young chicks.

👉 What to Do:

Maintain the right temperature for the age of the chicks. When chicks crowd together, they often need more warmth. When they move away from the heat source and pant, the temperature is too high.

5. Wet Litter

Wet litter encourages germs to multiply and increases the risk of disease.

👉 What to Do:

Keep the poultry house dry and well ventilated. Remove wet litter around drinkers and replace it with dry bedding.

6. Mixing Different Ages

Older or bigger chickens can bully smaller ones and prevent them from eating and drinking properly.

👉 What to Do:

Keep chickens of similar ages and sizes together where possible. Provide separate space for younger or smaller birds that struggle to compete.

👉 Healthy chicken growth starts with good feed, clean water, enough space, the right temperature etc

FARMERS, ARE YOU READY FOR THE HOT SEASON? ☀️

This is the period many poultry farmers fear the most! 😩

Once the temperature starts rising, you’ll see farmers praying for rain just to cool down the environment. 🌧️😂

But let me ask you this:

Do you know that your feeding routine can also affect how your birds cope with heat? 🤔🐔

👉 Feed your birds early in the morning when the weather is still cool.

👉 During the hottest part of the afternoon, avoid heavy feeding. You can remove the feeders temporarily and allow the birds to rest and drink water.

👉 Feed them again in the evening when the temperature starts coming down.

💧 Above all, make sure your birds have constant access to clean, cool drinking water.

Don’t wait until your birds are already panting heavily or collapsing before you start taking action.

🔥 HOT SEASON REQUIRES DIFFERENT MANAGEMENT!

Experienced farmers, what is the number ONE thing you do to protect your birds from heat stress? 👇👇

WHY ARE YOUR DAY-OLD CHICKS DY!NG ON DAY 2 AND DAY 3 IN THE BROODING PEN?

POULTRY FARMERS, PLEASE DON'T IGNORE THIS POST!
Have you ever bought healthy-looking day-old chicks, brought them to your farm, provided feed and water, only to start seeing de@d chicks on the second or third day?

You are not alone! This is a painful experience for many poultry farmers, especially beginners.
But here is something you must understand: chicks dying on day 2 or day 3 is not always caused by a disease. Sometimes, the problem begins immediately after they arrive at your farm!
Let's discuss the possible causes and how to prevent them. 👇👇

1. WRONG BROODING TEMPERATURE
This is one of the first things every poultry farmer should investigate!
If the brooding pen is too cold, chicks may huddle together, become weak and struggle to reach feed and water.
If it is too hot, they may pant, spread their wings, avoid the heat source and become dehydrated.
👉 What to do:
Preheat the brooding area before the chicks arrive.
For chicks in their first week, aim for approximately 32–35°C at chick level near the brooding area, adjusting according to the equipment, housing and chick behaviour.
Provide a cooler area where chicks can move away from the heat.
Observe how the chicks are distributed instead of depending on the thermometer alone.
Remember: chicks that are too cold or too hot may stop eating and drinking properly.

2. CHICKS ARE NOT DRINKING ENOUGH WATER
Imagine travelling for hours after hatching and arriving at a farm where you cannot easily find drinking water!
Transport stress, dehydration and failure to locate drinkers can weaken newly arrived chicks.
👉 What to do:
Provide clean, fresh drinking water immediately upon arrival.
Use drinkers that chicks can reach easily without drowning or getting trapped.
Check that every chick can locate the water.
Watch for chicks that remain weak or fail to drink.

HOW TO HANDLE PARALYSIS IN BROILER BIRDS
When a broiler suddenly becomes weak, cannot stand properly, or develops leg paralysis, don't assume it is one particular disease. Paralysis can be associated with several problems, including nutritional deficiencies, injuries, toxins, severe illness, or diseases affecting the nervous system.
One supportive measure sometimes used for a very weak bird is egg yolk mixed with clean water to provide an easily consumed source of energy and nutrients.

HOW TO PREPARE IT
Take 1 fresh, clean egg yolk.
Mix it thoroughly with about 100–150 ml of clean water.
Give a small amount to the affected bird slowly and carefully.
If the bird can drink on its own, allow it to take the mixture voluntarily rather than forcing liquid into its mouth.

👉 Important: Do not force large amounts of liquid into a weak or poorly swallowing bird, because it can aspirate the liquid into its lungs.

What else should you do?
* Isolate the affected bird so stronger birds don't trample or prevent it from eating.
* Keep it warm, dry and comfortable.
* Ensure easy access to clean water and balanced feed.
* Check the legs and feet for injury or swelling.
* Observe for other signs such as twisted neck, tremors, diarrhea, respiratory signs, or inability to use both legs.

YOUR BROILER CAN'T STAND? DON'T JUST START GIVING MEDICINE!
First support the weak bird, check what else is happening in the flock, and investigate the possible cause of the paralysis.

If your birds are eating well but not growing, the problem is not feed.

The problem is their GUT!

A dirty gut cannot absorb feed.

You are pouring expensive feed into a leaking bucket.

SIGNS OF DIRTY GUT:

- Watery, smelly, foamy poo

- Undigested feed in poo

- Birds eat a lot but remain small

- Too many flies around pen

HOW TO CLEAN THE GUT ORGANICALLY (Do this every 2 weeks):

1 DAY GUT CLEANSE:

Morning: Pound small ginger + garlic + small bitter leaf, add to 5 litres water.

Afternoon: Give them fermented scent leaf water (soak scent leaf overnight).

Next day: Give plain clean water + small palm oil in feed.

This will flush bacteria, clean intestine, and open their appetite again.

Clean gut = Less disease + Fast growth + No bad smell.

Try it and thank me later. Share for other farmers!

FEED IS TOO COSTLY, CAN I FEED MY BIRDS ONCE A DAY? 🤔

The answer is NO.

Don't do it.

If you feed broilers once a day to save money, you will lose more money.

Here is why:

Broilers have small stomachs.

If you give them plenty feed at once, they will waste half, poo the rest, and stay hungry for 16 hours.

Result? Slow growth, small birds, more mortality.

WHAT TO DO INSTEAD:

1. Feed twice - Morning and evening.

Not once.

Make sure the food you gave them in the morning will last them till evening.

2. Raise your feeders - Let it be at their back level so they don't scratch feed out.

Stop trying to starve your birds to make profit. Manage waste instead.

Do you feed once or twice daily? Be honest in the comments.

STOP! DON'T VACCINATE YOUR BIRDS YET! 🐔💉

A few farmers have asked me:

“Should I vaccinate my birds in the morning or evening?”

But here's the question I think you should ask first:

“How are my birds feeling right now?” 👀

Because vaccination isn't just about choosing a time on the clock.

You can vaccinate in the early morning.

You can also vaccinate later in the day.

What matters is the condition of the birds and their environment.

If the birds are already stressed, I would rather wait.

For example, don't vaccinate immediately after changing or packing their litter.

That activity can disturb and stress the birds.

Let them settle first.

And don't choose the hot afternoon period when the birds are already struggling with heat.

I prefer a period when the weather is cool and the birds are calm.

So before you pick up that vaccine, don't just ask:

“What time is it?”

Ask:

“Are my birds comfortable enough for this?”

That's the part many farmers overlook. 🐔💉

Morning or evening, when do you normally vaccinate your birds?

And more importantly, what do you check before vaccination? 👇🏽
