Ever wondered how trash collection actually works in a city with zero roads? In Venice, there are no garbage trucks—just boats! Every morning, locals bring their bagged waste down to designated canal dock points where the sanitation boat meets them.

(And yes, they run every single morning except Sunday—because even garbage boat captains need a day off!)

A floating bridge built just once a year, exclusively for the Venicemarathon. 🌉🏃‍♂️✨

Connecting Punta della Dogana straight to San Marco across the Grand Canal, this 170-meter temporary pontoon bridge is assembled and disassembled in just 24 hours.

Celebrated for the past 39 years, this legendary race brings runners from all over the world to experience the unique magic of the lagoon. And this year, the Venicemarathon officially completes its 40th milestone edition! 🇮🇹

📅 Race Day: Sunday, 25 October 2026
⏱ Starts: 10K at 8:00 AM | 21K at 8:45 AM | 42K Marathon at 9:40 AM (Villa Pisani, Stra)

👀 Planning to watch live?
If you’re in Venice, the best spectator window at St. Mark’s Square and along the floating bridge is between 9:30 AM and 2:00 PM! The 10K and 21K runners arrive early in the morning, followed by the elite marathon leaders around 11:50 AM and the main crowd through the early afternoon.
