During the monsoon, heavy rainfall and increased river flow can help the Ganga dilute and flush away some pollutants, while sunlight, oxygen, sediment processes, and microorganisms also contribute to natural purification.
But it’s not correct to say that the Ganga cleans all pollution by herself. If sewage, industrial waste, plastics, and other pollutants enter faster than the river can naturally process them, water quality can still become seriously polluted.
