Sh. Manoj Garg, Vice Chairman, RLDA, along with the Members and other senior officials of the Authority, unveiled the 25th Edition of RLDA’s e-newsletter, ‘RLDA Connect’, highlighting the organisation’s key achievements, major project milestones and strategic initiatives during the 3rd quarter of 2026.

The latest edition showcases RLDA’s progress across railway colony redevelopment, commercial development and station infrastructure. Key highlights include the redevelopment of MG Colony, Bengaluru, and Bauliya Railway Colony, Gorakhpur, delivering modern residential facilities for railway employees; advancements in the development of Super-Speciality Hospitals on railway land; and the implementation of passenger holding area infrastructure for improved crowd management at railway stations. It also highlights major Letters of Acceptance, new tender initiatives, commercial land development opportunities and the use of MIVAN aluminium formwork technology for faster, more efficient high-rise construction.

Reflecting RLDA’s continued commitment to efficient railway land utilisation, infrastructure modernisation and sustainable value creation, this edition of ‘RLDA Connect’ captures the Authority’s ongoing efforts to build future-ready infrastructure and contribute to the growth of Indian Railways.

MAJOR MILESTONE AT AJNI RAILWAY STATION: GIRDER LAUNCHING FOR 72-METRE-WIDE ELEVATED CONCOURSE UNDERWAY

The redevelopment of Ajni Railway Station has achieved a crucial milestone with the launching of girders for its 72 m × 66 m elevated air concourse.

The critical works over Platforms 1 and 2 and the newly developed Platforms 4/5 and 6/7 are being executed during night-time traffic blocks using 600 MT and 220 MT road cranes. The complex operation is being undertaken with meticulous planning and stringent safety protocols in close coordination with Nagpur Division and Central Railway.

Upon completion, Ajni will emerge as a modern, passenger-friendly satellite station of Nagpur. Its new eastern entry will provide convenient access from Government Medical College, Wanjari Nagar and eastern Nagpur while reducing congestion on the western approach.

Major features include:

• Iconic G+3 eastern and G+2 western station buildings
• 232 m × 76 m through-roof
• Two 10-metre-wide FOBs and a central 18-metre-wide FOB with travellators
• Integration with Congress Nagar Metro Station
• Organised parking, green circulating areas and modern passenger amenities
• Improved accessibility for Divyangjan and energy-efficient systems

This important milestone brings the project significantly closer to commissioning and reflects RLDA’s commitment to developing modern, safe and passenger-centric railway stations.

LUCKNOW RAILWAY STATION TRANSFORMATION GATHERS MOMENTUM 🚉

The redevelopment of Lucknow Railway Station is progressing at a rapid pace, with major structural works underway.

• 120 m × 115 m NR Concourse – er****on progressing up to deck level, creating a spacious passenger environment with waiting areas, shopping, lifts and escalators.

• G+6 Rear Station Building – spread across approximately 45,200 sqm, now at an advanced stage and set to enhance passenger and operational facilities while easing congestion at the Charbagh station complex.

• Rear Circulating Area – wider roads and organised access for smoother passenger and vehicular movement.

• New Foot Over Bridges & utility infrastructure – strengthening connectivity and supporting a more integrated station environment.

With every new structure taking shape, Lucknow Railway Station is steadily transforming into a modern, accessible and passenger-friendly transportation hub.

RLDA is proud to contribute to the transformation of this important railway gateway of Uttar Pradesh.

FINAL MAJOR BLOCK PHASE UNDERWAY AT CHANDIGARH RAILWAY STATION

A crucial stage in the redevelopment of Chandigarh Railway Station is currently underway. During the ongoing major traffic block, the placement of through-roof girders and installation of roof sheeting above Platforms 5 and 6 are being carried out, along with all associated platform finishing works.

Shri Manoj Garg, Vice Chairman, RLDA, inspected the works today and reviewed their progress, quality, safety arrangements and coordination among all executing agencies.

This is the last major traffic-block phase of the project. The critical activities are being executed in close coordination with Northern Railway, with meticulous planning to ensure their safe and timely completion while minimising inconvenience to passengers.

The redeveloped station will emerge as a grand, modern and passenger-friendly gateway to the Chandigarh Tricity. Its defining features include iconic G+3 station buildings on both the Chandigarh and Panchkula sides, a magnificent 72 m × 80 m air concourse, an expansive 180 m × 80 m through roof, and two 12-m-wide Foot Over Bridges to facilitate smooth passenger movement.

Huge, systematically planned circulating areas on both sides of the station will provide convenient access, organised parking and seamless movement of vehicles and passengers. Together with modern passenger amenities, upgraded platforms, improved accessibility for Divyangjan and energy-efficient systems, these features will give Chandigarh Railway Station a distinctive architectural identity and provide passengers with a truly world-class travel experience.

Completion of this major block phase will bring the project significantly closer to commissioning and mark another important milestone in RLDA’s mission to transform railway infrastructure across India.

🏢 HANDING OVER OF 100 NEWLY CONSTRUCTED TYPE-III QUARTERS AT BAULIYA, GORAKHPUR

A new chapter in modern railway housing has taken shape at Bauliya Railway Colony, Gorakhpur, with the completion of 100 newly constructed Type-III staff quarters across three residential towers under RLDA’s Railway Colony Redevelopment Programme.

🤝 The quarters were formally handed over by Shri Uday Borwanker, General Manager, North Eastern Railway, in the presence of Shri Manoj Garg, Vice Chairman, RLDA, along with PHODs and HoDs of North Eastern Railway, other Railway officers, union representatives, staff and the entire RLDA project team including all Board Members of RLDA.
