🔧🎨 Sanding & Painting Cast Iron Drainpipes

A little preparation goes a long way! 💪

Today’s job involved sanding back the cast iron drainpipes, removing loose and flaking paint, and preparing the surface for a fresh, durable finish.

Once properly cleaned and prepared, we applied a suitable metal primer where needed, followed by a quality exterior metal paint to help protect against rust and the British weather. ☔️

Another couple of jobs completed today! ✅🏠
🔨 Broken slate replaced – removed the damaged slate and fitted a new one to keep the roof watertight.

💧 Gutter repairs & blockages cleared – repaired the guttering where needed and cleared out blockages and built-up debris to get the water flowing properly again.

Another roof issue we’ve now fixed 🔨🏠
This is a great example of why small defects around roof abutments and flashing shouldn’t be ignored.
The damaged/poorly sealed flashing shown here can allow water to get behind the brickwork and into the roof structure. Over time, this can lead to:

💧 Water ingress and internal leaks
🧱 Damp and deterioration to brickwork and mortar
🌧️ Damage to the roof timbers and surrounding materials
🦠 Mould and damp-related problems inside the property
💷 Potentially much more expensive repairs if left untreated
We’ve now removed the defective section, repaired the area and installed/secured the flashing correctly, providing a much more effective weatherproof seal.
Another job completed and another potential leak stopped before it became a bigger problem. ✅
