Surrounded by stunning scenery, this area is loved by walkers and cyclists; people who enjoy the great outdoors. Walk straight out of the door into the stunning scenery of Macclesfield Forest and Teggs Nose Country Park. The Goyt Valley is also just over the hill. For cyclists, the property is on National Cycle regional route 70. You don't even have to cook if you don't want to - opposite is The Stanley Arms pub providing home cooked food. This week we received a very special visit from decedents of our first custodian, Mr Frank Redfern.

Frank Redfern was tasked with care of Buxton's only showcave by the 6th Duke of Devonshire in the 1850s, opening to the public in 1853.

The cave remained under the care of the Redfern family until 1977. After a family tragedy, local conservation charity Buxton Civic Association re-opened the cavern, while Jessie Redfern (Granddaughter to Frank) oversaw from the neighbouring cottage for several years.

With a sunny window in the weather, me and Mr Plattin Inn had a gorgeous walk up to the top of Shutlingsloe this morning. Very windy at the top (506m) with 360 fabulous views 😍
