A big congratulations to Jason Lipman on securing his first acquisition with Empty Property Hunters! 👏

Jason joined the team this summer, but he’s certainly no stranger to empty properties, having spent several years working in the field.

This property in Huntingdonshire has been sitting empty for years, becoming a real frustration for local residents.

But that’s finally about to change. 🙌

Another long-term empty property acquired, another step towards bringing a neglected house back into use and turning it into someone’s home again.

Empty for five years or more? Your council tax bill could QUADRUPLE. 👀💷

And Wales is taking action.

Since April 2025, Caerphilly County Borough Council has introduced increasing council tax premiums on long-term empty properties, reaching an additional 300% for homes left empty for more than five years.

That’s potentially four times the standard council tax bill.

And according to the figures reported, there are now 129 fewer privately owned long-term empty homes over an 18-month period. 👏

Credit where it’s due to the Welsh Government and Caerphilly Council for taking the issue seriously.

Of course, some properties remain empty for legitimate reasons. But when homes can be brought back into use, leaving them sitting empty for years shouldn’t be the easiest option.

With so many people struggling to find somewhere to live, could stronger financial consequences help tackle empty homes across the rest of the UK?

One neglected house can affect a whole street. 👀

Boarded-up windows, overgrown gardens, rubbish piling up… it’s not exactly what you want to see when you look out of your front window.

And long-term empty properties can bring bigger problems too, from fly-tipping and antisocial behaviour to concerns about neighbouring property values.

Nobody wants to watch the house next door deteriorate year after year.

Hard to believe it’s the same property, isn’t it?

Years of neglect can make a house look beyond saving. But with the right people and a bit of vision, the transformation can be incredible.

The garden’s taken over, the windows have seen better days and nobody can remember the last time someone actually lived there.

We’re on the hunt for the worst houses on the street across the UK. Not just to find them, but to give them the chance of becoming somebody’s home again.

This is exactly why an empty property shouldn’t be written off just because of how it looks today.

Behind the overgrowth, boarded windows and years of neglect could be a perfectly good home waiting for its second chance.

Every other garden is looked after. The houses are lived in. The street feels like a community… and right in the middle is a property that’s been left to deteriorate.

Overgrown. Boarded up. Forgotten.

One long-term empty home can affect far more than its own four walls — including the people who have to live next to it every day.

Would you walk past this without giving it a second thought?

The overgrown garden. Rubbish piling up. Signs of damage and neglect. A property that doesn’t look like anyone has been looking after it for quite some time.

These are exactly the kinds of clues our hunters learn to notice. 🏚️

You don’t need to know for certain that a property is empty — that’s our job to investigate.
