Projects often require information from above ground, below ground and within existing structures.

Technics can coordinate multiple survey requirements through one team, including topographic surveys, measured building surveys, utility mapping and ground investigation.

Bringing these services together provides project teams with consistent site information from early planning through to delivery.

A splash of orange across Technics and Earth Environmental & Geotechnical Ltd! 🟠

This week, our teams wore orange to support our charity partner, Challengers, as part of their Orange October initiative.

We also ran our Orange October Photo Hunt, an internal competition to raise funds, with colleagues snapping photos of anything orange to win a prize.

Thank you to everyone who joined in and donated.

Challengers provides inclusive play opportunities for disabled children and young people, giving them the chance to have fun, make friends and try new things. If you’d like to support Challengers, you can donate directly here: https://eu1.hubs.ly/H0zkk2g0

Wetter conditions can provide valuable information about how water behaves across a site.

Surface water, drainage patterns and seasonal groundwater conditions can influence foundations, drainage design and the wider development strategy.

Ground investigation and monitoring help project teams build a clearer understanding of these conditions, providing evidence to support design and planning decisions.

A survey programme involves more than the time spent on site.

Time is also needed to confirm access and permissions, complete the survey, process the data and carry out quality checks before delivery.

The timeframe will depend on the site, scope and required outputs. Planning early provides greater flexibility around changing weather, access arrangements and wider programme requirements.

Autumn can bring changing ground conditions, heavier rainfall and tighter site programmes.

Reliable survey information gives project teams a clearer understanding of the site before work progresses. Depending on the project, this may include:

• Topographic surveys
• Underground utility mapping
• Ground investigation
• Measured building surveys

Early coordination helps ensure the right information is captured at the right stage, supporting informed planning and design decisions.

Fitting an urgent survey into an already tight programme takes work behind the scenes.

On a recent project in Gloucestershire, our team provided the reliable site information the client needed within one day to enable informed decisions and guide plans for a new home.

Well done to Paul Pettifer and Andy Pettifer for turning this around so quickly.

At Technics, we’re always exploring new technology that can improve our services and help us deliver greater value to our clients.

Our team recently had the opportunity to test the new Leica RTC700 at our Guildford office and see how it could support our surveying workflows.

Thank you to Leica Geosystems for the demonstration.
