🍽️ THE GREAT HOLIDAY WASHING-UP DEBATE! 🫧

There’s a bit of a storm brewing in the holiday letting world! 👀

Airbnb has announced changes to its checkout rules, meaning hosts will no longer be able to insist that guests wash and put away their dishes before leaving.

Traditionally, self-catering holidays meant leaving the kitchen clean and tidy before heading home.

But what do YOU do when checking out of a holiday cottage?

React to vote! 👇

👍 LIKE – I wash, dry and put everything away. It’s just good manners!

❤️ LOVE – I wash up or load the dishwasher, but leave things to dry.

😂 HAHA – I’m on holiday! The washing up can wait for the cleaners.

📸 And yes, this is a genuine photograph from one of our holiday let changeovers. Welcome to the glamorous world of self-catering! 🤣

And if you’re a holiday home owner or cleaner, we’d love to hear your thoughts too!

Is washing up just basic holiday etiquette, or should it be covered by the cleaning fee?

Keep it friendly — we’re only talking about the washing up! 🤣💙⚓️

🍂💙 There’s something rather special about Brixham when summer is over…

The harbour is a little quieter. The pace slows down. And those beautiful coastal views? Every bit as lovely, whatever the season. 🌊

It’s the perfect time for a blustery walk along the coast, a leisurely lunch in a cosy pub, a wander around our independent shops and an evening watching the lights twinkle across the harbour. ✨

No packed beaches. No rushing around. Just beautiful Brixham at its most peaceful.

And with some wonderful autumn and Christmas events coming up, there’s plenty of reason to visit over the next few months. 🎄

Whether you’re lucky enough to call Brixham home or simply love coming here, we think there’s something rather magical about the quieter seasons.

🏡 And if you’re tempted to make a little break of it, you’ll find some lovely independently owned holiday homes at Brixham Direct. Link in the comments. 💙

Tell us, do you prefer Brixham in the bustle of summer or the peace and quiet of autumn? 🍂⚓️

💙 A little hidden gem just outside Brixham… 🦞🍔

If you’re visiting Brixham and fancy venturing a little further afield for lunch, here’s somewhere worth knowing about!

We popped into The Creek at Dolphin Boatyard in Galmpton and what a lovely little spot it is. 😍

Beautiful views across the water, boats bobbing about, and a wonderfully peaceful setting to sit and enjoy a leisurely lunch.

And the food? Well…

🦞 The lobster roll was absolutely lovely.

🍔 The burger received the rather impressive verdict of “the best burger I’ve had in years!”

Not a bad endorsement! 😂

It’s places like this that make exploring the English Riviera so enjoyable. Sometimes the best finds are just a little away from the usual tourist spots.

💙 Have you discovered The Creek yet? Or have you got another favourite little lunch spot around Brixham that more people should know about?

We’d love to hear your recommendations! 👇

💙 Well… that went far too quickly.

Another Brixham summer is almost behind us. ☀️⚓

The harbour has been packed, the boats have been busy, the gulls have stolen more lunches than they were entitled to… and hopefully lots of you have headed home with some very happy Brixham memories. 😂

So, before we properly surrender to autumn, I want to know…

If you visited Brixham this summer, what was the BEST bit of your trip?

🍽️ An amazing meal somewhere?
🌊 A favourite beach or cove?
🚶 A walk you discovered?
🍺 A sunny afternoon by the harbour?
🐬 A seal or dolphin appearance?
❤️ Or just one of those little Brixham moments you wish you could bottle?

Tell us in the comments — and feel free to share a photo from your trip too. 📸👇

Let’s give summer 2026 a proper Brixham send-off. 💙

💙 Brixham Starter Pack #2 (Advanced Level)

You’ve been to Brixham so many times that…

🐟 You judge other fish and chips against Brixham fish and chips.

🏠 You’ve accidentally spent an evening looking at local house prices.

⛵ You’ve convinced yourself a boat would be a sensible purchase.

📍 You stop using Google Maps because you know every shortcut to the harbour.

🍦 You have a favourite ice cream flavour from Brixham.

🌊 You still go and look at the sea even when you’ve seen it a hundred times before.

🚗 You know exactly where you’ll park before you’ve even arrived.

❤️ You’ve caught yourself saying:

“One day, we’ll move here.”

💬 How many apply to you?

(Bonus points if you’ve already bought the boat 😅)

💙 The Holiday House Test

You know you’ve found a good holiday cottage when, at least once during your stay, somebody says:

“I could live here.”

😂

Maybe it’s the morning coffee in the garden.

Maybe it’s the dog asleep in the sunshine.

Maybe it’s the family all around the table after a day exploring Brixham.

Or maybe it’s when you realise nobody has looked at a screen for the last two hours.

Rosedale Cottage seems to have that effect on people.

🏡 Sleeps 6

🐶 Dog friendly

🚗 Parking for 2 cars

⚡ EV charger

🌿 Large enclosed garden with hammock

⚓ Less than a mile from Brixham Harbour

And somehow it still manages to feel like a proper home rather than just a holiday let.

💬 Be honest…

What’s the closest you’ve ever come to moving to Brixham after a holiday?
