What a night to remember at Rezen.Villas! 🇬🇧✨

We brought the pomp, pageantry, and plenty of good cheer straight from London to the plains of Murcia for our Last Night of the Proms celebration.

The tables were set with red, white, and blue, the festoon lights twinkled alongside our disco-ball sparkles, and guests arrived ready for a proper British shindig. Proper retro 80s Ploughman's banquet, heaped with vintage cheeses, cold cuts, crisp salads, tangy pickles, and crusty bloomer - before bringing out a decadent spread of homemade desserts.

The function room was filled with flag-waving, laughter, and everyone singing Land of Hope and Glory.

A heartfelt thank you to all our wonderful guests and friends who made it such a joyful, lively evening.

The sun creeping over the horizon and catching the cacti in the garden before the heat (37°C today) properly settles over the valley. Just total calm before the day gets moving. In the early hours of this morning, our eldest son Callum and his fiancée Kasey welcomed our beautiful granddaughter, Sienna, into the world 🍼✨

It hasn’t been the smoothest ride over the last few weeks, with a few unexpected hospital visits and arriving a little ahead of schedule, but Mum and baby are doing wonderfully, and we couldn’t be more relieved or overjoyed.

Many of you know our family story. When we adopted Callum, Leon, and LJ, our world was complete. But life isn’t always a straight road. For five years, we watched Callum walk a path many wouldn’t choose, and being separated from him during that time was heartbreaking. To see him turn his life around, rebuild, and now step proudly into fatherhood is nothing short of stupendous. We could not be prouder of the man and father he is becoming.

Being based here in Spain means cheering them on from across the miles today, but our hearts are right there with Kasey, Callum, and little Sienna.

And yes… we’re officially grandparents in our early 50s! (Still wrapping our heads around that one! 😂)

Wishing the three of you the most magical start to this incredible adventure. Welcome to the world, beautiful Sienna, we cannot wait for cuddles very soon ❤️👶🌸

Well, this is our first attempt at cold brew coffee, and it's actually quite lovely! Now I'm excited to try the Mediterranean way with ice and tonic, hoping it's just as amazing! 😉 Hopefully, it’s a complete success!

The morning rush hour looks a bit different out here. We had a massive mixed herd of local sheep and goats wandering right past the grounds of Rezen.Villas today, guided by their shepherd. It is the authentic, slow rhythm of the Murcian countryside that makes this area so special. Much better than sitting in a UK traffic jam 🐑🐐

If you’ve tried baking British classics or rich desserts in Spain, you already know the struggle: finding dark brown or muscovado sugar in the local supermarkets is next to impossible! 🤦‍♂️❌

But don't panic—the ultimate swap is sitting right on the shelf.

Say hello to Panela (whole cane sugar). Because it’s unrefined, it keeps all its natural molasses, giving you that deep, rich, caramel flavor your bakes need. It’s a perfect 1:1 substitute for muscovado or dark brown sugar, and you can find it in almost any Spanish supermercado.

Standard panela can be just a tiny bit drier than sticky muscovado, so if your recipe relies heavily on that moisture, just add a tiny splash of extra liquid to your wet ingredients.

🎉 Huge milestone for Rezen Villas! 🥂 We just received our very first Booking.com reservation and review, and it’s a spectacular overall 10/10! A massive thank you to Emilio, who also happens to be our very first Spanish guest too! 🇪🇸

It was a whirlwind, last-minute booking on Saturday for our gorgeous Mirador Suite (currently our only listing on the platform, though more suites are coming very soon).

We are incredibly proud of those straight 10s (we did get a casual 7.5 for location, always the ultimate host riddle, since we can't exactly pick up the villa and move it! 🤷‍♂️🤪 Hey, every guest's map looks a little different!).

Don't forget that third-party platforms take a huge chunk of fees. To get the absolute best rates and to support us, remember to book direct! This goes for any holiday rental, not just us.
