Spain’s housing decrees came and went in a matter of days. But the debate around their proposed measures is far from over. 🏡⚖️

The package included potential rental-contract extensions, tighter rules for temporary rentals, tax incentives for landlords and an interest-free loan of up to €50,000 for eligible first-time buyers.

It also proposed a 4% VAT rate for qualifying protected housing and restrictions on certain property purchases by companies.

The key point: these measures are no longer in force following Congress’s rejection of the decrees. Similar proposals could return, but their future form and timing remain uncertain.
