On 11 November, The Warehouse hosts an evening with Arkady Pekarevsky and the presentation of his book Dukhovka. Business as a Spiritual Path.
In 1991, Arkady and his brother Boris started with just a few market stalls in St. Petersburg. That was the beginning of SELA — which by 2008 had grown to around 600 stores and more than $200 million in turnover. Later came the Aztec confectionery factory, real estate, investments and restaurants.
Dukhovka is not a glossy success story. It’s about communal flats and shortages in the 90s, first steps, painful failures, and small miracles that happened when faith and humour proved stronger than fear. A book about building a business not in spite of life, but together with it.
The evening will include the author’s talk, audience Q&A, a book signing, and a limited number of copies available for purchase.
