🏡 FRIDAY FILES — Tales from a Local Real Estate Agent
THE ACREAGE LIFESTYLE — PART 1 OF 4
There's More to Consider Than the View!
There's something special about acreage living. Wide-open spaces, privacy, room for a garden or workshop, perhaps a few animals, and the peace and quiet of rural Alberta.
For many people, it's a dream lifestyle. And it certainly can be!
But if you're moving from town or city to the country, there are a few things worth considering.
💧 Water: Does the property have a well, water co-op, dugout, or cistern? Is the water supply reliable, and what about its quality?
🚽 Septic: What type of wastewater system is installed? How old is it, and has it been properly maintained?
🚜 Maintenance: Who clears the snow from that long driveway in January? What about mowing, fences, and maintaining outbuildings?
🐴 Animals: Thinking about a few horses or other livestock? Just because you have the land doesn't necessarily mean there aren't restrictions on what animals you can keep.
These are just a few of the questions buyers should be asking.
Having helped people buy and sell rural properties throughout Vulcan County over the years, I've seen how rewarding acreage living can be. But it comes with responsibilities that aren't always obvious during a property showing.
Buying an acreage isn't just buying a property. It's choosing a lifestyle.
Over the next few weeks, we'll explore some of these considerations in greater detail.
