👥 One issue I’m seeing more and more: clients without children struggling to find someone to name as their Power of Attorney.
⚖️ A POA is a powerful document. Depending on how it’s drafted, it can take effect immediately or only after a medical event with a doctor’s sign-off — and either way, that person can make a wide range of financial decisions on your behalf. Who you choose matters.
🧓 A friend your own age may not be the answer. If you’re dealing with health problems later in life, chances are your friend is too — at exactly the same time.
👨👩 Look a generation down. Nieces, nephews, or the adult children of very close friends. Someone you trust, who’s younger, and able to step in when it counts.
💼 No one fits? There are trust companies that can act in this role for a fee. Not the first choice, but a real option.
Who would you name — and have you actually asked them yet?
