Halloween is exciting… but it’s also one of the weekends hosts need to be the most intentional.

My goal is never to avoid bookings, it’s to avoid the wrong bookings.

Before Halloween weekend, I always make sure:

🎃 Occupancy limits are crystal clear.
👥 House rules explicitly prohibit parties and events.
✅ Guests meet verification requirements.
💬 Every guest receives expectations before arrival, not after.

Here’s the thing: great guests don’t mind clear communication. In fact, it usually attracts the kind of people you want staying in your home.

You don’t have to choose between filling your calendar and protecting your property. The best hosts do both, with the right systems in place.

When I started co-hosting, I never imagined this number. Every review represents someone trusting me with their vacation, and a homeowner trusting me with one of their biggest investments.

This milestone isn’t mine alone. It belongs to the incredible homeowners I work with, the cleaners and maintenance teams who make every stay possible, and most importantly, the guests who took the time to share their experience.

Here's a Halloween design tip for your Airbnb! As a co host, I look at a property as more than just a place for guests to sleep. I look for ways to make it more appealing, improve the guest experience, and help owners get more out of their investment 🏡

Interior design is a big part of that. Through my STR design services, I help property owners identify what their space is missing, what could be improved, and where a few thoughtful changes could make a real difference.

Sometimes it’s updating the furniture, improving the layout, adding personality to a room, or making the space feel more cohesive. Other times, it’s the little seasonal touches that make a property feel more inviting.

The goal is to create a space that photographs beautifully, stands out to potential guests, and gives them another reason to book.

Your property doesn't always need a complete makeover. Sometimes, it just needs the right eye for detail ✨

The living room in our Kelowna condo was designed for exactly that! Slow mornings with coffee, afternoons spent catching up with family, and evenings gathered around after a day of exploring the Okanagan.

With warm hardwood floors, an open layout, and beautiful scenic views through the picture window, it’s the kind of space that makes you want to stay in just a little longer. 🍂🏡

I’m actually a big fan of decorating STRs for Halloween… in moderation. 🎃

The goal isn’t to turn your property into a haunted house. It’s to give guests a seasonal experience that feels warm, festive, and still photographs beautifully.

Here’s what I recommend investing in:

🎃 A classic pumpkin wreath or doormat
🕯️ LED candles for cozy evenings
🍂 Neutral pumpkins and autumn stems
🧡 Soft throws and seasonal pillows
✨ A few quality pieces you can reuse every year

I avoid loud, overly themed décor because it can date your listing and distract from the space itself. Guests should remember your beautiful home first, the Halloween touches are simply the finishing detail.

Affordable, reusable, and intentional always wins.

Halloween has always been a fun holiday, but I think hosts sometimes overlook the booking potential that comes with it 🎃

This year, Halloween falls on a Saturday, which makes it a pretty natural opportunity for guests to turn the holiday into a weekend getaway instead of just a one night celebration.

And that means your October calendar shouldn’t only be marketed as “fall travel” Think about what would actually make your property part of the Halloween experience 👻

Is there a great fall event nearby? A pumpkin patch? Haunted attraction? Family friendly Halloween activities? Maybe your home itself is perfect for a group getaway with a cozy living room, game room, fire pit or a kitchen where everyone can make a big fall dinner.

I’d also be looking at those October weekends now and making sure your listing photos, title, description and local recommendations actually show guests why your property is a fun place to spend the spooky season.

Halloween can be more than a cute social media post. For STR hosts, it’s another reason for someone to pack a bag and book a stay 🎃🏡
