Imagine hiring someone to negotiate for you and finding out they’re more afraid of an awkward conversation than you are of losing the opportunity.

“They’ll think we’re crazy.”
“I don’t want to offend them.”
“They already said no.”

Okay. But what did they say no to?

I’m comfortable asking a question that gets me a short email back. What bothers me is telling a buyer “there’s nothing out there” when we’ve only looked at what’s been handed to everyone else.

Ryan and I call ourselves deal developers. Some days that means bringing the right people together. Some days it means asking one more question when it would be easier to say “we tried.”

The carousel shows what that looks like. This one’s still unfolding.

And we have other qualified buyers looking for hotels in major markets. Own one—or know an owner who’d consider a conversation? Message me.

“Not listed” is fine. We know how to start there.

The Porsche came with a warranty.
My reputation didn’t.

Every time I say “you should meet this person,” I’m putting a little of it on the table.

So I care what happens after the introduction.
Did they follow through?
Was the opportunity what they said it was?
Are we moving something forward or having our fourth lunch about absolutely nothing?

Because “I know a guy” gets expensive when you’ve spent three months finding out he knows another guy.

I’ve spent 18 years building relationships in Toronto.
Moving to Miami made me realize how many of those same people were looking for opportunities down here.
Developers. Business owners.
People with capital and a very specific idea of where they want it to go.

That changes the conversations I can have.
An owner has a property.
A developer sees potential.
A hotel group has a concept.
A capital partner needs a reason to get involved.
Ryan and I work on figuring out whether those pieces can become an actual deal. That’s what we mean by deal developers.

The car’s fun. I worked hard for it. But the thing I’m most careful with is being able to call someone and have them say,
“If Aaron’s bringing it, I’ll take a look.”

Have something you’re trying to put together?

Tell me where it’s stuck.
Let’s start there.

Send this to a seller who thinks ego helps the deal.

My house sold in 8 hours.

Not because of luck.
Not because of magic.
Because I put ego aside, priced it right, and moved before everyone else did.

Most people wait for the “perfect” moment.

The smarter move is knowing when low inventory is already your advantage.

If you’re not on the market, you don’t know what you don’t know.

Save this if you’re trying to scale without adding chaos.

More people doesn’t always mean more leverage.
Sometimes it means more explaining.
More repeating yourself.
More managing the people you hired to save you time.

That’s the problem with bloated teams.

At a certain level, the game isn’t “hire more people.”
It’s build a leaner system.

Use AI where it makes sense.
Keep the right humans around you.
And stop turning your business into a daycare.

Lean teams win because speed wins.
And speed dies when every decision needs three follow-ups.

When I moved to Miami, I honestly thought I’d be starting over. New market, new relationships, new opportunities. What I didn’t fully appreciate was how much of what I’d built in Toronto would come with me.

After 18 years in real estate, you get to know a lot of people. And you start realizing those relationships can be useful in ways you never expected.

Now I’m having conversations in South Florida and connecting people I’ve known for years with opportunities they might never have come across otherwise.

That’s a big part of what Ryan and I are building. We call ourselves deal developers, and a lot of the work comes down to finding the right people, making the right introductions, and figuring out what we can build together.

Turns out, moving markets doesn’t mean leaving everything behind. Sometimes you just find a whole new way to use what you already have.

Send this to someone still waiting for the “perfect” time.

Most people don’t lose because of one bad move.
They lose because they keep calling hesitation a strategy.

“I’ll wait for the rates to drop.”
“I’ll wait until after the election.”
“I’ll see what happens in 6 months.”

That’s usually not planning.
It’s fear with better wording.

Sometimes waiting is smart.
But a lot of the time, it’s just expensive.

Waiting doesn’t feel expensive — until it is.

Nobody posts “just signed a client I already regret” but there should be a template for it.

I’ve talked myself into deals because I liked the potential cheque more than I disliked the obvious problems. Then called it hustle.

The worst part is how casually you spend time you’ve already promised to other people. “Just one call” while you’re with your family. Half listening because you’re still thinking about that email.

Getting paid doesn’t automatically make it worth it.

What are you currently praying falls through so you don’t have to be the one to say no?
