Buying a home in Brampton? A professional home inspection can help you move forward with confidence.

From older homes in established neighborhoods to newer subdivisions, townhomes, and modern detached properties, Brampton’s housing market offers a wide range of home styles and construction types. That variety is exactly why a thorough inspection matters.

• Attic ventilation issues that can lead to condensation and mold risk

• Roof wear, flashing failures, and patch repairs

• HVAC systems nearing end of life or poorly maintained

A home inspection gives clients a lot to take in.

“Which finding would you like me to explain again?” gives someone a specific opening to ask for another explanation.

Go back to the relevant photo, use plain language and connect the finding to the recommendation in the report. Before moving on, make sure the next step is clear.

A leak is a stressful time to start searching for the main water shutoff.

Find it now, keep the area accessible and make sure the other adults in your household know where it is.

If you are unsure which valve controls the supply or how to operate it safely, ask a qualified plumber before you need it. Do not force an unfamiliar valve.

Recently moved in? This is a useful task to move to the top of your list.

Loose carpeting, a wobbly handrail or poor lighting can be easy to overlook when you’re following a familiar routine.

Take a few minutes to check that walking surfaces are clear, handrails feel secure and lighting helps you see each step. Put repairs on your list before those small concerns become everyday hazards.

Fall is coming. Is your home ready? A few simple checks now can help you avoid leaks, heat loss, moisture problems, and unexpected repairs once colder weather arrives.

Take a walk around your home, check the roof and gutters, prepare your exterior plumbing, and make sure your heating and safety systems are ready for the season.

A little fall maintenance now can make a big difference when winter arrives.

Save this checklist and start checking things off before the temperature drops.

EIFS can look perfectly fine from the outside while moisture problems are developing behind it.

Early barrier EIFS systems were designed to keep water out, but if moisture found its way behind the cladding, there was no drainage path for it to escape. Over time, trapped moisture could lead to hidden rot in the wall sheathing, framing, and even structural components.

Newer water managed EIFS systems include drainage to help moisture escape, but identifying which system a home has is not always easy from the surface alone.

Learn more about EIFS, why older systems became controversial, and what homeowners and buyers should know in our full blog post: https://www.carsondunlop.com/synthetic-stucco-eifs-the-cladding-that-deserves-a-closer-look/
