Grimsby on the Lake is a newer community built around modern condos and townhouses, giving it an urban feel you will not find in Grimsby's historic downtown.

The Great Lakes Waterfront Trail runs along Lake Ontario on the north edge of the neighbourhood, an easy stretch for a walk or a bike ride any time of year. The area has a beach, a waterfront park, and a few cafes close by.

Lower Swayze Falls in Short Hills is one of my favourite spots. It takes a bit more effort to reach than the easy path to Swayze Falls itself.

Wear long pants if you go, the brush gets prickly. Fall is the best time to visit, the colours in Short Hills are stunning.
