When we built 3 Civic Plaza, the goal at ground level was to create a place where people want to gather.

Dominion Bar + Kitchen is that spot. Located in Civic Hotel, Autograph Collection, it’s a vibrant place to eat and connect right where transit, KPU, hotel guests and local residents meet. Having live local music every Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 3PM gives people one more reason to drop in and enjoy the space.

What makes a community feel livable?

We met with our Vice President, Development, Joanne Shao, and Jonah Gamblin of Design Research Office to talk about what livability means as our cities grow. Jonah was also part of the architectural team behind the Century City masterplan.

Using Surrey City Centre and our masterplan community, Century City, as case studies, they examine how streets, parks, shops, transit, nature and public spaces shape the everyday experience of a community.

Because livability is about more than the homes themselves, it's also about the spaces between buildings and how people move through, use and connect with the places around them.
