Making a difference looks a little different for everyone. ❤️

For Mark, it has meant taking part in this year's Ride for Shelter, organizing his annual Jam for Shelter fundraiser, and helping raise funds for two local shelters doing incredibly important work.

We asked him to share a little about his experiences, what the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation means to him, and why he continues to show up for this cause.

The Bank of Canada raises its key interest rate to 2.5% 🏦

Canada’s economy has been performing better than expected, with stronger consumer spending, business investment and exports. At the same time, inflation remains around 3%, largely due to persistently high oil and fuel prices. ⛽️

The Bank is concerned those higher costs could start spreading into the prices of other goods and services. Rising transportation, production and import costs are also adding pressure.

Looking ahead, another rate increase is possible, but the Bank says it plans to proceed carefully.

📆 The next announcement is scheduled for December 9, 2026.

The Bank of Canada is keeping rates steady for now. 🏦

Canada’s economy showed signs of improvement last quarter, with stronger GDP growth, increased consumer spending, and a slight drop in unemployment.

But inflation is still running around 3%, largely due to higher gas and energy prices. New U.S. tariffs and Canadian counter-tariffs are also adding uncertainty and could push costs higher.

For now, the Bank is taking a wait-and-see approach. 👀
Before the next rate decision, it will be watching inflation, the strength of Canada’s economic recovery, energy prices, and the impact of ongoing trade tensions.

The next announcement is scheduled for October 28, 2026.
