I had a treat for breakfast this morning - Hot Cross Buns. They brought back fond memories of family Easters from days gone by. Hope you have a chance to get together with family over this Easter Long Weekend. Happy Easter to all my friends and family.

Remembering my dad today. He passed March 31st 1986 while on a family ski trip to Jasper. I have many fond memories of him, especially our years working together at the family business, Western Trailways. Many good friends and memories from that time of my life. Raise a glass to Fred.

Saskatchewan reported 1,398 sales in September marking the fifteenth consecutive month of above-average sales for the province.
“Record population growth, favourable economic conditions, and an improving labour market continue to support strong demand in Saskatchewan’s housing market” noted Chris Guérette, CEO of SRA, and adding “When paired with easing lending rates, these factors are, without question, contributing to a fifteenth consecutive month of above-average sales.”
Saskatoon reported 432 sales in September, an increase of 16 percent year over year and 24 percent above long-term, 10-year trends. However, limited supply options continue to prevent even stronger sales in Saskatoon. Monthly inventory is the lowest since 2007. We are in a Sellers’ Market.
If you are curious about selling, I am happy to provide a free Comparative Market Analysis of the market value of your home. Call me to learn more.

A big thanks to Captain Mike and Joan Steckhan for their foresight and years of hard work to operate the Prairie Lily on the South Saskatchewan here in Saskatoon, making the Prairie Lily an icon of our summer landscape. They plan to operate the 2025 season as usual, then look to other horizons to challenge their energies. I wish them a stellar 2025 sailing season and fair weather in their future plans. Here's hoping a local visionary will step up to purchase and operate the Prairie Lily, keeping this wonderful tradition alive in Saskatoon.

At Mid-September, Saskatoon’s housing is characterized by two factors.
The most significant is a serious lack of inventory. Active Listings are 48 % below long-term trends. Secondly, limited inventory has given rise to a seller’s market, fuelling the cost of buying a home.

For Sellers, there is opportunity for a good return on the sale of your property. If you are serious about selling, I would be happy to help with a Complimentary Market Evaluation of the current value of your property.

Lastly, August saw inflation finally dip to 2%, the Bank of Canada’s hoped for target. The Overnight Lending Rate has relaxed to 4.5%, leading some Lenders to note that fixed rate mortgages are beginning to come down, and suggesting variable rate mortgages as an alternative, in the expectation that the rate will again come down when the BoC meets on the 23rd of October.

I finally got to the Saskatchewan Aviation Museum yesterday, as part of Aviation Days, their end-of-season big show. Scores of airplanes, bi-planes and helicopters were on the tarmac, what a word!, and what a cloudless Saskatoon day it was to enjoy this outside event. Volunteers and crew were on hand to explain their aircraft, it's history and current roll. I also had a nice surprise when I met a friend showing off her aircraft as one of the displays. Hope you can get to the Museum sometime, it's easy to find at the Saskatoon Airport behind and west of "the airplane on a stick", that is behind J&H Builders on Ave C North. I loved the gleaming aluminum of many of the jets and the bright the brilliant paint of many others.

What would you do? After an early Tuesday evening we stopped at an 8th St family fast food restaurant for a cold drink, before calling it a night. We each ordered bottled apple juice. The casher took two from the cooler, put them on the counter and handed payment machine to me. It showed my total and a tip option of something like "15%, 20%, Other". So - I'm asking not what I should have done, rather I'm asking (playfully) what would you have done? Can't wait to hear the answers that come back to me. LOL.

Fun Fact: Olympic medals will contain iron once part of the Eiffel Tower

This year’s Olympic medals include a special part of Parisian history.
Each Olympic medal will be infused with iron from the original Eiffel Tower, which was built for the 1889 World’s Fair.
The pieces of iron were cut from parts of the tower that were replaced during renovations over the years and saved.
To create these medals, the Olympics recruited Chaumet, a French luxury jewelry maker to infuse 18 grams of iron from the Eiffel Tower into other materials made from silver, gold, bronze.
Winning athletes in both the Paris Paralympics and Olympics will receive these unique creations.
