Many of the same building practices that improve energy efficiency also enhance a home's durability, comfort, and resilience. The result? Better-performing homes built to last, stronger housing stock, and more sustainable communities.

At Sun Ridge Residential, we help builders and homeowners make informed decisions through energy modelling, onsite inspections and performance testing, and EnerGuide evaluations.

Because building better isn't just about saving energy. It's about building for the future.

Housing supply isn’t only about building more.

Building new homes is essential, but so is maintaining the homes Canadians already have.

Our new research explores the nearly 1 million homes that required major repairs in 2021 and where repair needs are greatest.

High-performance homes don’t happen by fluke.

They come from thoughtful design, careful construction, attention to detail, and a willingness to measure how the home actually performs.

We see it in the results. Builders who continue to work with Sun Ridge are improving airtightness, energy performance, and overall building quality from one project to the next.

That kind of progress is worth recognizing.

Our builders make us proud.

Multi-unit housing continues to be an important part of Saskatchewan’s residential construction market — and with more attached housing comes a greater need for accurate airtightness testing. Guarded blower door testing can help accurately measure the performance of individual units by accounting for air movement between adjoining spaces.

Sun Ridge has the equipment, experience and Energy Advisors to perform guarded testing for builders and developers across Saskatchewan.

October is — a good reminder that the best renovations consider more than how a home looks.

When you involve a Registered Energy Advisor early, your renovation can be planned with energy savings, comfort, durability, and long-term performance in mind. An Energy Advisor looks at the home as a complete system and can help identify which upgrades are likely to deliver the greatest value.

Before replacing windows, upgrading insulation, changing heating equipment, or tackling a larger renovation, consider starting with a home energy evaluation.

Don’t scare wildlife this Halloween. Halloween conjures thoughts of ghosts, ghouls, goblins, witches, vampires and skeletons. But when you’re decorating this Halloween, think of the wildlife. Some decorations, like fake spiderwebs, can be hazardous for birds, bats and squirrels. Small animals can get trapped, leading to injury or death.

If you want your jack-o-lantern to last longer, don’t use a bleach bath. Try soaking it in one part vinegar to ten parts water. After thirty minutes, drain and dry. Now you’ve got a long-lasting jack-o-lantern that won’t harm any animals that might see it as a snack.

Happy Halloween! Decorate responsibly! If you have some fun, wildlife-friendly decorating tips, drop them in the comments.

Saskatchewan’s climate demands more from our homes.

Cold winters, temperature swings, and long heating seasons make energy efficiency, airtightness, durability, and good building science especially important here.

The good news? Building better doesn’t have to mean carrying the full cost alone. Programs such as SaskEnergy’s Homes Beyond Code rebate can help make higher-performance construction more affordable.

If you’re planning a new home, talk to a Sun Ridge Energy Advisor early. We can help you understand the options, model the performance, and identify the upgrades that offer the most value.
