Ontario just changed how long tenants have to pay overdue rent.
As of September 21, the notice period on an N4 - the notice used when rent hasn't been paid - was cut from 14 days down to 7. It's a real, recent change, and it's exactly the kind of thing that's easy for a self-managing landlord to miss until it actually costs them. This is part of why we work with a lawyer who specializes specifically in landlord-tenant cases - not to react to changes like this, but to actually catch them.
