Designer tips to make your home feel extra cozy this fall 🍂
A few small shifts can create a completely different feeling.
That’s what fall does to a well-styled home, and it doesn’t take much to get there.
1. Layer your textures. Add a chunky knit throw, brushed wool, soft velvet or a linen pillow in a warm neutral. Texture makes a space feel cozy before the temperature even drops.
2. Embrace fall 2026’s richer colour palette. Chocolate brown, olive green, deep burgundy, warm to***co, muted plum and smoky blue are replacing predictable orange tones. Introduce them through pillows, throws, artwork or florals for a seasonal update that still feels elevated.
3. Light a candle, intentionally. Choose a scent that reflects the season; warm amber, cedar, sandalwood or vanilla. Scent can transform the mood of a room faster than almost anything else.
4. Bring in warmth through natural materials. Rich wood tones, aged brass, woven baskets and matte ceramics help a space feel grounded, layered and lived-in in the best possible way.
5. Style your surfaces with intention. An open book on the coffee table, a sculptural branch in a simple vase or a tray holding a candle and a small object. These thoughtful details make a home feel curated rather than simply decorated.
6. Edit before you add. Fall styling isn’t about more, it’s about choosing the right things. Remove anything that feels overly summery and replace it with pieces that offer depth, warmth and texture.
The goal is cozy, collected and sophisticated, not overly themed. 🤎
